^see theres a problem with that

if you can go in buildings you need to make the models more detailed

Detailed buildings= high poly count = lag

COD could do this cause the map sizes are comparatively much smaller

plus the map size also eats up resources as well creating more potential lag

Let's also remember the BF2 engine isn't exactly optimised for performance. COD uses the Quake 3 engine (albeit very heavily modified) too which isn't very demanding on your PC, at least not compared to the BF2 engine (having said that neither is the Far Cry, Doom 3, HL2 or Splinter Cell engine haha).

Devs, my suggestions for maps are pure gold. You must use them.

Also, someone tell me EXACTLY how to make a map for PR. Exactly how to make one.

I gotta go down to Canton for the second time in three days, I'll be back around 2000-2200 hours (Eastern)

Canton? Do you live in China? Or is it another place in the US that is named after somewhere else. Seems quite common. I saw somewhere called Antioch in Illinois the other day on the news. Good luck with the maps too. It's easy enough making the things, but getting them working properly is the hard bit.

Damn limeys.

It's a city about an hour south of Cleveland!

We've also got an Athens, London, and Miami here in Ohio

You have about 10 Londons over there, and Newcastles! Same in Australia too to an extent, they have New South Wales there! Why I don't know *shudders*. Haha, sorry, English thing, have to put the Welsh down when we can! Don't worry they do it back! It's a mutual respect/mocking thing.

My maps in progress: slightly delayed now that this patch messed things up.

Map 1
Green Zone
Obj; secure the main supply route from the baghdad airport to the Green zone.
Sitrep; High level of Insurgent Contact. Units of large sizes gathered along supply route.

This will be a close combat building to building map with no vehicles other than transports. Two uncapturable US bases and several MEC strongholds that will need to be captured and secured. This will be an amazing game map with AAS.

Map 2
Lost Village 2

Obj; Secure lakeside village and possible munitions plant, eliminate insurgents with extreme predujice
Sitrep; Unknown level of enemy combatants. High level of civilian population.

This will be a close replica of the original Desert combat map. Difference will be several littlebirds to transport multiple squads to enemy territory across lake.

So tell me what you think about these. They are a start, I hopefully will be able to continue work on them soon.

Map: Elmeera

Forces: British Troops / MEC Insurgents.

Objective: Brits are split into 4 squads. These squads must defend their assigned flag, and must patrol the immediate area, not remaining static.

MEC Insurgents have to carry out coordinated insurgent style attacks on Brit patrols.

MEC Insurgent main base is a house only - their stronghold.
Brit Base is a normal camp with Hesco etc etc.

MEC Insurgent can carry out attemted rocket attacks on main base and suicide bomber attacks.

Brits can only carry out coordinated planned attacks on MEC Base - squad size only.

Eqpt:

Brits:

15 x Landrovers - with top cover capability
1 x Merlin
1x Chinhook
5 x Ambulances
Possibly civillian landrover - ie Discoverys
Normal Brit weapons

MEC Insurgents:

Civillian vehs - varied
AK's
Suicide Bombs (c4)
Roadside IED's (extended range c4 and bigger)

Map would have a large built up town in centre, and desert outside with plenty of roads for patrols to transit

Civillians would also be dotted around - to confuse the brits ??
(not sure how this could be coded)

Dedmon, your green zone map idea sounded absolutely brilliant.

The realistic kind of map that PR needs.

And in response to UK_Force:

Maybe you could add civilian cars driving up and down the road as well, so you wouldn't know if one was maybe an insurgent about to do a suicide bombing.

You've lucky if you've even got 15 people on the British side! Maybe three or four landrovers
