Using the unlock system has been suggested before but we do not have access to it. It was not exposed by DICE so it is not possible. Changing weapons like changing ammunition types is not viable afaik. The problem is that we cannot 'modify' guns 'on the fly' (like removing the scope or re-adding it etc..) so we would need to have 2 different rifles (1 with scope and 1 without it) but the problem is that since they're 2 independent objects, each one has its own ammo count, etc.. That would mean that you would have 2 rifles, instead of giving the illusion that you only have 1 rifle and that you're able to attach/detach the scope from it.

I had a look in the ObjectEditor_help.xls file, which can be found in, "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\bf2editor\Help", and found something interesting...
Under "Ammo Component" there is a command called, "MagLinkWeapon". The description is as follows, "If two weapon systems on the same vehicle should draw ammo from the same magazine. Type the "linked" weapon name here." I believe this is the system the side guns use to share ammo. The problem is that it says in that description that it is for vehicles but in the description of "Ammo Component" it has, "For all weapons". This system could be used for a weapon that has two sights or a removable sight. They would each be a separate, selectable weapon which draw from the same ammo source.

Ah, that's too bad, thanks for the explanation GhostRider :]
Well.. Maybe one day. The Devs do seem to make breakthroughs with bf2 editor all the time.

I remember a mod that had it working, think it was EoD2... Not sure.[R-DEV]Ghostrider wrote:Using the unlock system has been suggested before but we do not have access to it.
