our ****. Or should I say [R-DIK]Kenwayy
Oh I figured he's a ****, but in a good way. His post just felt negative and it kinda set me off without really reading what he was trying to say. I'm sorry for that. Now I just feel like a total ******* for acting like a stupid jerk.
You know my wife (bless her heart) has been helping me with getting in touch with my "feelings". I think I kinda liked it better when I didn't "FEEL" anything. At least then my emotional "feelings" didn't get the better of me. Being a civilian for the past few years is hard work. Hell I don't even know what I'm gonna wear to work tomorrow, or where I'm gonna have lunch.

Ok back on topic. Yeah um you know, what exactly are these special forces guys? I mean are they just army special forces or what? I mean I would say that in that case that most SOF personell were probably rangers at some point or another. But this is like the USMC so I am very lost on that point. Anyways, yeah I am very sick of the rather disorienting locations that these maps are all in. Like I count um... 2, that have actually been fought in the last decade by any of the involved parties. Those being Albasrah and Helmand. And the USMC isn't in either. There should definitely be a refocusing on some more logical locations as far as maps go. Like I'm hearing about some of the huge firefights happening in Afghanistan, particularly last year. Whats wrong with doing a few maps with some of the real world locations where wars are actually being fought?

I'd say keep as clear from any kind of special unit of E1337 detachment as possible, as from experience, it seems to be an excuse for going alone and playing medal of honor on the same server as people playing PR.

Not sure about the possiblity of the outnumbered factor. Plus everyone would want to be the UBER ops....which is kind of the big problem we have with 'non-cooperative' players on servers, who lone it FTW.

I just have to ask, why is everyone obsessed with Special Forces? I mean, Billy Connolly once said (while talking about ideas in british parliment) that they go on one side and come out the other a complete shadow of their former selves. That's exactly what's happening here. Everyone obsessed with Special Forces just sees how they're glorified in movies and on the web and perceives them as being omnipotent warfighters. When in reality it's nothing like that.
People want to fast-rope out of black hawks and fall into the water, then swim under-water with there scuba suit coming up behind enemy lines and stealing there planes.
That about sums it up

Its already bad enough, where theres no enemy in the area and you all of a sudden get killed by a lone wolf with M14, who thinks he's a sniper.
Or like yesterday, I got ambushed by a sniper on Jabal, idiot fired 2 shots at me and I was still alive, then he shot me with the pistol. At distance of 20 m.

Rico11b wrote:If you guys want to model a "real" hardcore Army Special Operations unit. I can think of no better unit than the 75th Ranger Regiment. A Ranger Battalion is a real world bad ***, do or die unit. They are the real world hard chargers that Hollywood knows nothing about.
While Hollywood might not know a whole lot about the Rangers, video games do (look at the latest Command and Conquer game or just about any World War II game) It's the same thing no matter where you go, people want to glorify the "awesome super leet" units in computer games, movies, re-enacting, historical miniatures and board games etc. because they're perceived as more interesting than the 945th Infantry Battalion in defense of the Postal Service and Catering Division.
Personally, I think it's interesting to see a fight where you're given as few toys as possible (think Red Orchestra, where you usually only have access to a couple rifles and SMG's and very little in the way of actual support). This mindset is one of the things that I appreciate about PR. The fact that the SF class isn't just the Uberclass like in vBF2 is icing on the cake.
