Very fast, with a lot of praying and even more luck. It has been done over water a few times. I know there's footage of one or two low altitude helicopter ditches floating around, from the evacuation of Saigon when they had to push helicopters off the deck to make way for landings, but my YouTube and Google searches found nothing.ZZEZ wrote:They should make it that pilots are unable to bail out of helicopters unless the helicopter has landed, I mean - how exactly can pilots bail out of a active helicopter when theres a rotor above them?
Give us pilots an Increased chance of survival!

If i'm stealthy and fast enough then yes it works but usually after the first pistol shot they recognize where the shot came from and i'm dead.Waaah_Wah wrote:If you find yourselve behind enemy lines you just kill some lonely wanker and take his kit![]()
Only twice have i ever been able to successfully take an enemies kit, First time on Kashan i crashed on top of bunkers and killed an enemy with the m82 and uzi's(Needless to say i went popped a cap in their asses!) Second time on basrah i crashed at mosque, I killed an svd sniper 10 feet from where i landed.

I remember seeing a IMI helicopter escape system on the History Channel, it involved explosives being placed in the rotor, and when the pilot presses the red button they go off blowing the rotor, then his seat acts like an military jet seat by flying up.[R-DEV]Eddie Baker wrote:Very fast, with a lot of praying and even more luck. I don't think that system is operational, rigging the rotor with explosive is asking for trouble

colt survival rifle? mayybe
elt/beacon? = lol stupid
binocs? do pilots actually carry bincocks?
what does a pilot carry irl.
hmm, he has food/water/med supplies in the ejection seat, plus the elt (in the seat)
usually carries a small sidearm usually a pistol.
knife
whatever else he has on him, clothes, parachute, etc.
its not like you're gonna ambush the enemy and strangle him with your g- suit.
maybe a small carbine would be cool though, but it could also be really dumb.
how about replacing smoke nades with flares?

...sounds realistic for me. A crashed pilot behind enemy lines in the middle of a dessert = small chance of survival. Can`t see a problem?DavidPodedworny wrote:Guys the problem really is that a pistol + No Binocs + 1km trek through kashan + Hostile enemies everywhere = Small chance of survival.

I dont see why we need to turn the pilots into a one man army capable of fighting their way back to friendly lines.
If youre a pilot and you get taken down behind enemy lines, stay alive and if your team sets up a PJ squad (something i havent seen but people really should do it).
The PJ squad moves in, puts down fire to cover your extraction, get on their vehicle and off you go.
Youll be alive and youll have an armed escort. sorted

Let me rephrase that.'[BF2 wrote:Bonsai;474841']...sounds realistic for me. A crashed pilot behind enemy lines in the middle of a dessert = small chance of survival. Can`t see a problem?
Downed Pilot behind enemy lines + Half mile trek through kashan + 1 Bandage + No ability to see whats up ahead of you = 10% chance of survival.
I did survive i crashed at Mec Base with little bird my pilot(aka squad Leader was dead) I had to go around the areas of combat in kashan i have a whole story about all the sh*t i had to do to survive back to base.
You know what when i get back from work today i'll post it.

But in all seriousness, give them binos, a canteen of water, some extra MREs.

You'd better give crewmen Stingers/grails then since being more than a few miles trek on Kashan without a scoped weapon and 1 bandage and about 5% chance of survival when hit by aircraft. Or maybe give them a parachute so that when they're eventually blown to Kingdom come they can float safely back down to the ground, take the M240 (which unfortunately isn't modeled or included in the pr Abrahms) off the gunners mount and pull a Rambo. Oh, and give the H/at kit nukes....for those times when the pistol just doesn't cut it. /sarcasm
