The kill does register even if he is critically wounded. What doesn't register if the victim is critically wounded is his death count, unless he does not get revived.

I'm guilty of this i must admit, i usually throw a grenade and watch the scoreboard, hear the explosion and see if i got a kill (or many kills i got, saves me running into a strong enemy position)

I never thought of doing that. Wow all that paranoia induced stress I could've saved myself...

I've never done this. Too lazy to keep track of my score and personally I think it would ruin the "reality" aspect. i mean common, people on servers all the time argue about making things more real and then get on me if i argue something is not as realistic as it should be. Or idiots telling me to play another mod if i don't like the realism. Then I read this and think, what a bunch of baloney, people using this is the most unrealistic thing you could do and its preventable. Lame. Practice what you preach.

I do it half the time. The rest of the time when I don't it's because I forgot what my kill count was lol.
Another thing I and presumably everyone else uses it for is to simply tell how many enemies are alive at any given time, which can then dictate your behavior (if there are only 2 enemies alive, and you know that one of them is in a chopper at their main, then you know you have at most 1 guy to deal with.. so, you can pretty much run around and not worry too much about taking cover).
There's nothing wrong with using this stuff, so long as it's in the game. It would probably be cooler if the enemy scoreboard was blanked out so you couldn't see it though, because it would increase the immersion. Just think, you could never check the tab to see how well your team is doing. You'd have no idea how many enemies were alive and where there were and in how many numbers. That would be pretty cool.

Personally I like to know how many kills and points I have. At the end of the day it's a game and I like to have high scores and do well. Call it lame or whatever, I don't mind.

Yeah but if it didn't show it till the end, that would still let you see where you are. And you'll "know" how many kills your getting based on visually confirmed kills during the round, so it's not as though no scoreboard scores would stop that.

using TAB to confirm, too, and quite alot, i already did it when playing oblivion then recognized ups wrong game.
but like to have it removed also

I do it if I'm not sure and if it's not in the heat of a battle, but if in Close Combat you just hear the 'Aaah', you're pretty sure he's dead.

Removing the scoreboard will make it that much harder to catch people using aimbots. The last few people who were caught and banned for this were primarily noticed by their unusually high scores which lead keeping a close eye on them. If the scoreboard is removed, being killed by an aimbot will likely be credited to "oh well I died again" instead of "how is that guy 110 and 9?"
Just something to consider.

removing scoreboard only during game but not at the end of the round?

That may be so, but, for example, the DVB admins check punk buster screenshots
daily. And we're streaming to punkbusted, so there's no way a cheater will play on our server more than once.
We play with those cheaters, and we only notice they're cheating after. I don't think it makes a huge difference.

Of course the scores need to show at the end of the round, but during it, it might as well be left out if that's possible. I use TAB too and I would greatly appreciate it being inaccurate/hidden/whatever, 'cause it's not realistic to check if you killed someone. Sometimes I throw a grenade over a wall, without knowing there's an enemy there. I check TAB to see if I "accidentally" killed someone.
Is it possible to influence the kill-scores? Perhaps use a second variable to store the real scores, whilst the "official" variables will be put to 0 constantly. At the end of the round (or in the last second, before stats are sent etc.), the "official" variables should get the value of the second variables.
In my mind, that works

As has been mentioned from an admin point of view seeing the scores during the game is very important. Not just for catching the odd hacker, which you can always do by other means, but for kicking the smacktards during the round. For example without the scores you would have no idea which retard keeps shooting the civilians and losing the game single handedly for the rest of the team. Whereas with the scores you can see who has the negative score and boot them.

Teamwork score should stay, that shows TK's and Civie genocides.

respecting your way to handle the (no-knife)civikillers, but TB never did that, both sides have to life and suffer with the noobs in our opinion.
but btw how many neg.points do you get for a wrong civikill?

I used to press tab to check if I just killed the guy but now that method is slowly starting to slip away. Lately, I have stopped doing it for a time and so far have been using it just to check scores.
If the Devs can create a scoring system that is somewhat consistent with the current system, then we can still identify cheaters.

I use it from time to time, but it usually isn't that hard to find out just by keeping your eyes open, and counting the bodies flying into the air after you put a HEAT shell on target
