It is also helpful if there are decent squad leaders on that round. Sometimes you will just get a round where hardly anyone wants to be SL, you can see it by the fact that as the round start timer is ticking down, no one makes a squad but as soon as a few brave fools start one, they fill up instantly.
Yeh ive noticed that too. Well someone said make your own squad, thats one answer but a lot of the time im not too keen on been sqldr as it usually ends up in rash decisions and getting my whole squad slaughtered. Im not a "command decision" kinda d00d.., im more of a grunt and a follower, it seems that role on the battlefield suits me best been this way and usually always turns out for the best. Been sqldr makes demands on me that i dont seem to be able to fulfill effectively, dont get me wrong ive tried many times but squad support rather than leader seems to be my niche.

Ive read the squad leader tips and tactics in the forums and tried applying them to ingame situations but they never seem to work out. More over they end up in disaster rather than been half way effective.

You just need to adjust: Like me, I have my classes at night, so I have to play during the day! ;) (Like right now, if anybody wants to join....)

I find that its difficult to find a group of decent team players by joining a random squad. Sometimes, it happens, but more often than not, it doesn't.

Some of my peeves are people who don't follow SL's orders, squads who don't use voice comms, squads who's channels are full of use-less chatter.....etc...etc....

The best way I've found is to get to know the good players who frequent the servers and forums and join their squads or start squads and invite them.

Joining up with a "clan"/Unit that stresses teamwork and communication is also a plus.

If I'm playing by myself (that is, none of my friends that play PR are around) I always try to get on the TG or DVB server, then look for squads with a name that is not default (e.g. Alpha, Bravo, etc.) but also not just someone being dumb and naming their squad something offensive or pointless. I get the best teamwork and overall effectiveness out of squads that have multiple players from the same clan/gaming group, although this can sometimes reduce the info communicated on the squad channel because these individuals are probably using their own private TS or Vent server. I rarely play SL, but do enjoy taking on the role of an NCO and whipping other squad members into line with the SL's orders. I have threatened to summarily execute those that consistently refuse to obey orders

Most of the time, even though I am not a member of any gaming group or clan, I have a group of guys that I play with on TS or Vent. Generally we only have 1 or 2 slots available in our squad for random pub players - it cuts down on the squad chatter when we have our guys giving sitreps in one ear and the pub guys in the other, and only the SL really needs to communicate across both channels. This also makes fireteams a little easier to pull off because of the divided comms.

But I digress back to the topic at hand - if you are having trouble finding a squad that fits your play style, keep hopping squads or start your own and kick players that don't comply. Eventually the lone wolves will get filtered out and you will have a great group of guys to work with. When a round ends, tell them you are going to create the same squad next round, tell them what you plan to name it, then make a note of all of their names so you can lock the squad and invite them if you have to. On the topic of an entire team rushing to the next attack marker, I agree, but if you have the above squad put together, you can just stay in the rear and defend - the entire opposing team should be headed your way shortly

WRT to offensive squad titles, one of the better SLs, whaatpur(sp?) almost always has a really offensive squad name but if you join you will have a good time.

Rescinded, I've played with him before and agree. Maybe it should be more of a 'most but not all' kind of thing.

There is a time consuming answer to this whole situation.

We need a proper player guide written up that appeals to the players, with integrated youtbue/google/mediaputfile videos demonstrating certain things.

Advanced tactics need to be gone into.

HAT squads, SF/Sabotage squads (not baseraping, that point must be made!)

encouraging voip usage for faster communication, stopping people turning it off!

squad movement with regard to taking cp's. buffer zones to prevent enemy getting into the flag zones from likely directions, crossfire squads, leapfrogging cp's in contention to neutralise or simply prevent reinforcements arriving at cp'
s in contention.

It is a long task, but I am going to start some of them off soon even though I have university enrolment problems that are enough to make me bite barbie dolls heads off right now.

I can vouch for that statement.

In most commercial games, this would be done via an interactive tutorial. Possible?

What happened to noticing the order to remove himself from a baseraping situation then :)

Well, while baseraping may not be a very nice tactic, it was done as a team. lol

MrD, just undress them, that should help without forcing you to buy new ones.

And today again, I played PR for 2 hours, and I had a great squad during nearly that entire time, even though I had to make one at one point. All that's needed are some experienced people who are willing to teach, and some new people who are willing to learn. Be nice when people ask reasonable questions, don't act like a jerk, and everyone will have more fun.

I'm not sure what twisted thoughts are going through your head (watched Mr Brooks perchance?) But I'm not into looking at nekkid barbie dools, just biting their heads off.

The community has tried things from time to time with videos and instructionals, but more flashy, shorter and to the point tutorials that attract the 3 minute culture new players is called for I think, plus the creation of them could give the community something to get involved with to fill in those blank times when you can't find decent players online (duie to new educational year just starting, etc)

M4nicMin3r wrote:Ok recently ive notice gameplay on various servers has become retarded beyond belief. Let me explain....,

I join a server, look to join a squad, i join, no sooner have a joined that squad (before the game starts) then the squad leader leaves the squad to join another, then it starts. Squad hopping like crazy, no-one wants to be squadleader anymore. When it stops and the game starts the squadleader ends up been a sniper, no rally points, no voip communication. I always join a squad and first thing i do is say hello to everyone, ppl reply say hi but then no comms at all throughout the entire game with scattered squads.

Ok so i go squad leader grab an officer kit in a vein attempt to get organised, tell the squad my intentions everyone agrees then it all goes to **** again. Trying to get squaddies around you to set a rally point it near impossible ( Im beginning to think my player model has digital BO), once (if at all) a rally is set its like ok ive done my bit screw you squadleader im off to do my own thing.

Then theres a matter if capping flags! ALL squads seem to attack the same point OVER AND OVER, if it works and we cap eventually its like the flag turns into some sort of dead smelly rotting rodent that everyone has to get away from as quickly as possible! I cant count the number of times ive been left alone trying to defend a flag while the other 31 players lemming towards another CP.

Its that or either 3 or 4 squads go right to the front to stop the enemy advancing to their first flag, ok i see the point in this but is it really nessesary to do this with 3 squads leaving 1 squad to cap 3 flags with a coupe of random blue d00ds? :S

So is it me? its been happening on the servers i usually play on and in the past have had some ASTOUNDING teamplay on.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Its getting VERY frustrating.

TEAMWORK GAMEPLAY VERSUS LONE WOLF ONE.... some pepole like me try hard to folow the order of the CO/SL... but its hard...some Commander are realy stupid....like make the CO POST spawn right in front line ? WTF ? you're too much retarded to put in safe place ? pepole refusing to build CO ASSET... Pepole moving the TRUCK...

MY FAVORITE ONE : PLAYER WHOS BUGG/USE/EXPLOIT YOURE APC TURRET WHEN THEY DONT HAVE THE CREWMAN KIT AND THEYRE NOT IN YOURE SQUAD IS THERE SOMETHING MORE FRUSTRATING AS WHEN YOU SWITCH FROM DRIVER TO GUNNER TO SEEN SOMONE STUPID (ALSO KILLED BY SERVER) BUG/USE/EXPLOIT ALL YOURE APFSD AND YOURE 7.62 AMMO IS IT ?

Had a guy called Luizferrariz or something like that last night on Kashan steal my squads vodnik whilst half the squad were still in it, to provide personal transport (he was a sniper) from US Outpost in the lower right of the map to the US main so he could stand at the wall at the south end of the airfield and sniper the enemy.

We typed over and over in chat, he didn't care, we tried contacting admins but they weren't fast enough or didn't speak the same language to understand why we wanted the guy kicked (it was a long drive with us typing furiously!)

When we reached the US main and nothing was done, the guy got out of our vehicle, lagging all over the place, so I just shot him down (for some reason Punishing was On, but Voting players off wasn't??? really good admining there) and then I drove my squad back to the CP we had just capped, where the enemy had come round and slaughtered the other half of our squad and neutralised the flag again.

When we finally took the cp back, the twat TK's me with his new sniper kit, so one of my guys in the APC kills him. Guess what? he punished the player!

I can safely say that if I find that guy on the iGi servers, he will be banned on his first infraction faster than he can believe!

you're damn right about this. I only have a commander on my team less than 50 percent of the times. I see allot of squads just running between 2 or 3 flags.

When the round start i allways wait a couple of minutes to check where the other squads head to. When most are heading towards point A i move to point B and stick the untill i'm 100% sure it's okay to move up.

Allot of the times i hear other squads say: if you want to get it done right, i do it myself so they abandon a friendly flag to go over on offense and all flags get captured behind the teams back....

Not funny

sincerely,
Borrito

p.s. indeed mr. D , squad locked verhicles could rule the world
