Because sniper kits seem to attract a certain sort of person and nobody really likes that certain sort of person.

I don't think having a position with a wide field of view is always the best solution because it leaves you with more flanks to protect and watch than if you settled in and targeted one small area that was long distance off.

As Wasteland mentioned, you have to move after each shot if you want to be a real sniper and that means you will not get the huge number of kills that are often possible by picking a good spot and using all you ammo picking them off.
And as the windshield melts
My tears evaporate
Leaving only charcoal to defend.
Finally I understand the feelings of the few.

Only good map to snipe is Kashan due it's huge size and view distance, IMO

If you hide in some bushes near the outskirts of a city with small angle views of alleys and snippets of roadways, you can be a hugely successful sniper. You just aren't given an endless supply of targets.

I have noticed some things about snipers recently.

The majority of players getting the sniper rifle over and over have :

1) not got voip comms
2) seem oblivious of the excess noise their rifle makes
3) Don't know the maps very well and
4) Fire repeatedly from the same location without moving until someone comes up and knifes them.
5) Then try and request any sniper rifle again oblivious to the way they are hampering their fast moving assault/defence squads.

People requesting sniper rifles have to learn not to join fast moving assault/defence squads. Need to learn to fire a few good shots and then move to another location where knowing the maps is a really good idea. Need voip comms to be a full member of the community, help with spotting troops they don't really need to take opportunist shots on. Need to slow things down a bit and try looking for medics and squad leaders to kill first to disable enemy troops. Help with locating enemy squads rally points as they should be outside the nominal fighting radii

Except there's tons of armor and air power...

And you're insanely easy to spot.
