Unfortunately guys, the main reason we didn't get your post here until just now is that we've been rather busy with 0.7

Another side reason, and not to single you guys out, because its never any fun when your comp starts acting up or because you can't play PR, but you two or three seem to be the exception to the rule. The overwhelming majority of our users have not had issues like the ones your describing, so the reasons as to why they may be occurring are many, and sadly we don't have enough people or time to devote to hunting down every single reason as to why our game does something strange to your PCs that normal BF2 doesn't.

My recommendations for the moment would be to try out some of the tips found here:

http://www.tweakguides.com/BF2_2.html

I would assume its covered in that guide, but I would say the most common and usual remedies are also in order:

- Remove temp files (%temp% and C:\Windows\Temp and Search for *.tmp; *.dmp)
- Run Disc Cleaner under Accessories -> System Tools
- Run a defrag
- Using an antivirus prog of your choice and then running a full system sweep
- Checking the Start-up list by running "msconfig"
- Clean installing BF2, the latest patch and then PR 0.601 full

If none of those work, a more serious issue may be present, and depending on your choosing may require a full reformatting and clean install of Windows with all of its updates etc, or making sure that all hardware on your machine is working as it should be.

Note of course that you do all of the following at your own risk as I only advised you of what I would do in this case.

Changing nick seemed to solve the issue as there hasen't been freezing past two days *knocks on wood*. As I said this has been common problem among all I've talked with but ofcourse impossible to say how common in generally. I think many of having this problem is just waiting an update and don't bother complain. I'd still say it's a coding bug in 0.6 release needed to get fixed.

Update: Got one freezing today but it was solved by cycling to desktop and back to game - could be server side but symptoms were same, where most noticeable is looping sound, and I presume that others on that server didn't have any feezing. Usually freezing for me has locked whole computer or caused BSD.

Well it looks to me like the freeze up problem is much more common than they think, they will fix it in 0.7 I hope. ;-)

Deep freeze

I've tryed pretty much everything (taking out sound card, disable SLI,this that) to find out if a component is causing it

It all started (IMO) when the patch came out and the new PB had to be installed.

I would get a freeze almost every round or even few times in 1 round.

the few that I've had recently were
the ones when the server crashed,
So it's been good for the last 2-2.5 weeks.

My hardware is fine, IMO
2gb Redline
2x250 WD in RAID0
600w Zalman
165 opty @ 3.033 stock volts
2 7600gt in SLI
Creative XFI Extreme music
and so on

The reason I am listing it is maybe it only effects AMD
processors or something similar, just trying to find 1 thing that all of us have in commmon(besides PB)
Maybe it's a combination of things?

That might be one, 170 Opteron here.

Other stuff:
DFi NF4 SLi Expert
Corsair TwinXPro 2GB
8800 GTS
X-Fi XtremeGamer
120GB x2 RAID0

Update: Changing nick didn't solve this problem. Also lowered audio settings from X-Fi ultra to high, tought it worked but just got one freezing again. I think this problem might be something related to sound environment changed in 0.6 but no proof of that.

Anyone with Intel

cpu(s) that gets this problem?

I'm getting two different kind of behavior with freezing. If VoIP is enabled freezing is causing BSD after few seconds it starts and if disabled game can often be alt+tab cycled to desktop and then back to working game. Maybe it is just my PC but if someone has similar behavior please post your report here.

Update: Well, there sometimes seems to be BSDs even if VoIP if disabled...

I also have this....******* problem.... Specs:Intel Pentium D 930 3.0 ghz
Corsair 667 mhz 2 gig
X800 256 mb
X-Fi EXTREME Music
160 gig harddrive whit over 120 gigs left

Ok there seems not to be an AMD CPU relation then. I can see that three of us are having Creative X-Fi soundcard. What about others with this problem, what soundcard do you have?

Time before the crashing

On some maps i can always play an hour before the freeze. But on the kashan desert i can't often play more than a half hour.

But it must be a realy big bug or problem because the whole computer just dies..its not ctd :-|

XFI-?

I am pretty sure (90%) that I've tried taking out the XFI card (and use the on board) and still got the freeze, mind you that was a long time ago.I don't get the BSD, mine just "pauses",inside the game, and the sound (~1 second) goes "looping" .Post up guys- if you use the on board/non XFI card,so we can rule this out as well.

I play PR since 1? month i had no freeze yet...

Computer specs:
CPU: E6600 @ 3,4Ghz
Mainboard: Asus Striker Extreme
Ram: 4GB OCZ @ 800MHz
PowerSuply: Corsair TX750W 750W
HDDs: 1x Raptor 1x 500GB with 16MB cache 1x 120GB (Windows)
Grpahic: XFX 8800Ultra
System: Windows Vista Ultimate

Maybe your systems just overhead? Than your computer will freeze to prevent damages on the hardware. Make sure its cooled enough. Even when i play PR on high settings i got a acceptable temp.

Ofcourse it could be just overheat but quite many here are having this same problem. It also seems being related only PR 0.6 version.

And I doubt overheating a little 'cause I'm myself having for instance 7 x 120 mm coolers which 3 of them temperature controlled doing the job.

Mhh is it only on one map or on all? Maybe its a bug inside one map...
