deviation is bull ****, guns are so much more accurate than you think.
my friend is in the army reserves (Australia) and when he was a recruit he got a score of 88 on the ranges. 20 rounds from 100 meters all within 88 mm of each other, thats about the length of your little finger, from 100 meters. he was a recruit when he got this, the characters we are using in PR are highly trained soldiers.
thats my 2c

thats my 2c
As a recruit in the US Army I was able to maintain a 3in grouping of 10 rounds on a man-sized target at 150m. This was from the prone unsupported position, meaning no fancy sandbags or frontal rests other than my arms.
As an E-3, my rifle qualification was 40/40 Expert for the 4th time in a row (2 years), and was selected for the Sniper program. Firearms are natural to me.
One thing to remember though, is that firing a weapon on the range is relaxing. It was how I spent my free time to unwind and have some stress relief. On the battlefield, you will have adrenaline rushes, you will be scared, and might be shaking a little. Your vision will not be 100% effective at all times. Overall, your accuracy on the battlefield will most likely be slightly degraded compared to how you shoot on the range back at home.
Far too often in PR have I seen people take shots and get kills at ranges beyond what is the norm for a combat kill. When I am getting plucked off in the TC .50 from some joker's AK at 200m, then it's obvious deviation needs to exist a little bit. And I have seen in my career as a soldier many NCO's that could barely hit a barn with a grenade launcher. Just because you have training doesn't mean every grunt will be a marksman.
In real life I can shoot ten times better than the characters in PR. My weapon recoils much less if at all, and the weapons in game fire like a little girl is shooting them. But I don't complain because there are many aspects of the game that can't be accurate to real life, such as situational awareness and field of view. Having deviation of fire would bring the game to a more realistic level based on what it's capable of at this time.

My dads cop friend says that under fire you shoot at about 30% of what you can actually fire at. This makes sence as I'm not sure I would be rock steady standing straight up while getting shot at myself.

With some people they may actually shoot 130% better under pressure. Some people tend to rise to the occasion. I personally wouldn't be in the previous category.

You can go ahead and 'rise' to the occasion but usually rising out of cover is what gets you shot to begin with but of course how else are you going to shoot back eh ned!
I'd like to think I'd be Audy Murphy but.....

I'd use an underslung grenade launcher to either smoke up or blow up my enemy's position. Failing that, a devious feign retreat or outright cheap, pop-up, headshot does the trick.
I just read about Audie Murphy. What a guy!

i think the .50 should be given a little bit of splash damage. if a .50 round lands between your feet your still going to get hurt by the breaking up of the bullet and ground around it. like a 1 or 1.5 foot splash damage area would be good and it would make it a much scarier gun and help abit with being able to suppress

Good point! I shall henceforth make it my sole aim to provide the Mod with a method of instilling fear into players every time they get killed.
My preliminary thoughts show me three options:
- Manufactor and sell a "Death Kit" to every PR player that contains a car battery, some wires, two nipple clamps and a USB lead connected to a small PCB. The attachment must be installed and in use for PR to load. On each death, shocks are applied to the player's external genitalia.
- A "Death" song. Each time a player dies, a song is selected at random from a playlist. The song shall include things like Aqua's "Barby Girl", virtually every Take That single, Britney Spears' entire backlist and a whole raft of 1970s classic disco tunes. The player cannot respawn until the selected Death Song has finished playing.
- Puppy Massacre. The minimap is removed, and replaced with live video footage from Battersea Dog's home. Every time your player gets killed, a puppy gets it. For every consecutive death without a kill in between, an additional puppy is added. When someone punishes you for a deliberate TK, a kitten is added. Sound effects are also streamed, along with the crying of the small child being forced to shoot an endless stream of puppies.
Clearly, all of these methods have some failings but ultimately I think one of them will definitely make dying in PR a more traumatic experience for the player. Some combination method might work well, although I'm not sure if anyone is capable of distinguishing between "I'm a Barbie Girl / In a Barbie World! / Life in plastic / It's fantastic" and the agonised wailings of a three-month old kitten being electrocuted with a car battery anyways.

Upcoming for Canadian Forces.

A remote turret goes on top and the gunner sits in the rear seats.

Not at all! 100% the desired effect!
(I'd had a very weird day at work, wanted to share the bizarreness)
Clype - yum, is all I can say to that. Now, so long as those windows are bulletproof then the gunner should be able to wreak .50cal hell on all and sundry. (To the soundtrack of "101 Dalmations")

Only when reflected in reality of course. And where Canada is concerned, they use a remote weapon system in reality.
