Imagine this situation, a squad is moving up and a soldier sees somebody and insted of just Q-spot, he says by Voip that there is someone, probally a enemy, near them. Then, the squad first take cover and the soldier tells where he saw the suspect and the SL marks on the map where they should go or act.

The terror feeling will be great, because you dont know where the enemy is and you dont know where he is moving. With the spot system, you can see the red dot moving around the map
It is realistic. That has already been established. If someone sees an enemy, they would yell enemy on the roof or something like that and that is replicated by the spot system basically.

And if you are trying to crawl and sneak past and are detected, that is your own fault for not being stealthy enough.

Personally speaking, abolishing the spotting system would be a great idea. I despise people using the spotting function in place of vBF2's UAV. At the very least the spotting area should be massively reduced so you actually are forced into looking directly at the target.

ok it might be why do you think this is bad, this is project reality so it should be as real as this engine will allow and still be playable. i am just wondering why you think this is so bad?

Supposedly , the spoting system represent the ability of soldier to "talk" , for example if you see an APC moving across a river you say over the radio or shout : "enemy APC crossing the river from west to east (for example :p ), etc" not just "enemy apc spotted".

however i will like a system that only allow certain kits to spot , while other just can shout ,etc .

Agree, I think this is very realistic
And is real too that a lot o people havent good oral english for spot or understandig by voip :28_behead

Personaly I liked that the spotted point would be static, and more limited if in doubt.

x2.So if you spot an enemy all that's shows up is a static icon where you say them.

That's the accidental spotting over the hill - yeah, it's unrealistic.
I sometimes see infantry spotted at the enemy teams main on Kashan and there's no one around there for at least 2 Km, so Q spotting is really odd :p

"accidental" spotting over the hill, means everyone and their mother now exploits it so, instead of having to visually scan the battlefield, you just radpidly qspot, qspot qspot, ok that area is clean.

its highly exploitable.

I dont agree, I dont ever use the Q-spot/question mark spotting thing to make out friendlies or not. I only use Q spot (auto for tracking and manual) for showing my team where a hostile is

Its too slow for starters, just have your minimap on full zoom so you can see if the position matches. There is some skill in matching a 2D image to the 3D position and its often much quicker to do. Sometimes its hard and a full screen overlay is needed which is distracting but that is as it should be tbh

I dont agree with removing minimap alltogether though, friendly positions would be tracked and even enemies sometimes. It probably shouldnt be accurate down to the inch but Im not sure thats changable

This is the map overlay Im refering to. Its the M key on my setup. Make the minimap 100% transparent in the general options screen, high contrast helps with reaction times and peripheral vision.
N is the default key for altering minimap zoom I believe
Image

How about fixing minimap to be full zoom only, if thats possible. Map (caps lock) would have to be used for greater distances or the overlay thing as above which is not ideal when walking (and it disallows q spot)

Yea I do spot for teammates, I edited that in sorry. I mean I dont use it to identify enemies, I allready know its hostile.

Not everyone would have a radio so that sounds reasonable

I dont usually use the overlay when on the ground. Sometimes in an apc when firing heat at max zoom I would, to stop friendly fire.
It works in a heli well because no one point on the screen is obstructed from view for longer then a fraction of a second

Everything is exploitable in this game. Doesn't mean everything should be taken out just because a few people get pissed over it for helping them get killed.

I agree with fuzz on this though. What exactly does q spot relate to, your not sure on your own sight where the enemy is but you check gps and now you know?
It is basically personal UAV

Basically for 1, it is to spot tanks and armor. If someone sees armor and they do not have a mic, then how are they suppose to yell where it is? 2, if someone does see armor, they are just not going to let it go because it is armor of course, so it will be kept track of somehow. And 3, if enemy infantry is spotted, then they have to be kept track of somehow.

I guess you guys also forget that spotting is a valuable way of finding an enemy cache too or rallypoint. Get rid of it, then what? You are pretty much blind. This game is too big to not have it. Eliminating it would work in a game like CSS or COD4, but not in this game.

well if you dont have a mic go and get a really cheap 1 cus it is a must in pr so i dont really think that argument is relevent.

this is for your 2nd and 3rd arguments, in real life you have to have some one watching that tank that is coming to your position, there is no crazy thing that when you see it, it is then sent to every one on the field in a second and updated every second for about 30 sec.
