insurgent map
Hmm, some people are in for a shock when that one splits in two

Emm. Civilians live in cities. This is why they are in Basrah. Civies don't live in the middle of poppy fields running around with enemy insurgents. Any army would shoot them if they were running around with insurgents who were firin on their position.

For the 10000000 time:
Killing a civilian does
not remove tickets. It ads 10 to insurgents.
I agree on the medic idea, though.

Yeah, you normally find Taliban out in the mountains and the poppy fields where they hold their reign of terror.

Insurgents hide within civilian populations. It doesn't matter if there is a city or not.
Did you see the Special Forces documentary posted a while back? The insurgents and the Taliban like to hide in the civilian population in small towns and it makes the fight much harder because you have to be careful before you move in on towns.
Point is, civilians ingame would actually be more realistic in a rural setting or in small towns because there are just not enough civilians on a map like Basrah to make them have that "mob mentality."
And same difference with the ticket thing. It still helps the insurgents.

As someone mentioned, the series of videos on fighting in Afghanistan at one point showed insurgents firing at the US troops' position from a house...and then sending a woman up on top of the house, so that the US troops could not return fire. So yeah, civilians on Helmand are realistic, in that they live there, and are used by the real-life insurgents too.

Or maybe they make civs limited on not-insurgency maps and unlimited on insurgency maps? But we'll see... And gameplay is also important. Even in the regular army vs. regular army fights civilians could still appear in cities if the evacuation was not fast enough or people wanted to stay there. But for gameplay and maybe also morale reasons they dont appear on these maps.

Taliban are not insurgents. But they do hide with the population.

How about fallback instead maybe? Sounds less cowardly and more tactical?
You can say that again SOF.
US Military NEVER "retreats". We advance to the rear.

imo i think the civis are being reserved for insurgency mode, while the scout is being used for AAS v2 and the like

Indeed sir, indeed.
And Mr. D, you are a bloody tease.
Personally I can't wait to see what the devs came up with for civis, I'm sure that even if it sucks, it'll at least be entertainingly new.
