Our server's (Devil's Brigade) time limit is 1 and a half hours. So only 1 JDAM per game for us.

man that is waaaaay toooo long i mean i get boared and tired after 1 and half hour of the same map. and i think many ppl are like that. see for yourself:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/rounds ... 13453.html

so imo the reload time should take 20-30 min, so that we could actually use it more than once and see what that monster can do.

This just doesn't match up...

A player can drop a JDAM every 5 minutes, yet the comp has one every 30?

Let the player pilots take the CAS missions

the Attack jet class, Harrier, Thuderbolt and Frogfoot will have 2 laser guided bomb of 500lbs. That one dont have "reload time" you just have to land on runaway rearm and take off. Officier & Spec Ops will be able to lock it on target(even if you choose nothing as target...like lock a bunker or a flag before doing a ground assault).

JDAM will be like Arty in vbf2, you will have to request it to commander and he must aproove.

Most games with 64 players on a large map will last 1 to 1 hour and 30 minutes at most, maybe 2 hours if it is Kashan, Jabal, or the new Basrah which is why I think the JDAM is limited to Kashan mostly.

On maps like Sunset City or other smaller ones, it only last like 45 minuts to an hour maybe which of course is not enough time to drop one.

I think we need a light arty (say 80mm motar platoon) to balance the heavy JDAM strike. Too light to hurt armor, this would force us to use IFV's more and more as troop haulers the way they were intended to be used. Devestating on infantry in the open, the way arty is supposed to be. Give us like a 30 second barrage from 4 tubes (total of roughly 40 rounds with a fairly wide dispersal pattern) then the platoon has to displace before counterbattery fire finds them. Reload time of about 10-15 minutes. Ammo could be smoke barage or HE or a mix of the two.

I know there's been talk of a motar kit, but frankly to make an effective motar unit we'd need more than 64pp servers.

I think it's pretty balanced since it's only once an hour and it's not on all maps (such as Al Basrah)

I'm looking forward to how this works.

As a 500lb bomb, is the blast radius correct on the teaser video? It took out a whole damn village it seemed.

Also, the one concern I do have is that, while it's arriving and making that noise, players will just run away. Assuming you're not wasting it against moving enemies or a singular, soon to be mobile tank, a village defense force that hears this coming will surely run away.

Yes, they will run, but that can perfectly be used for an attack. At least for the first weeks on a public server utopic scenario: They will focus on getting away, means easy work for hidden Anti-Tank units around the area to destroy tanks or APCs that may leave the area and for a large group of blue ones to invade the area right after the expolsion. If the bomb doesnt kill the enemies, the ambush will. Special Forces could mark any leaving heavy vehicle for airstrikes and the commander could even order a combination of JDAM and attack with bombers.

...

...

Assuming the commander doesnt blow some random village and there is a lot of teamwork...

I know it will not often happen exactly like this, but if the team sets up a good trap, the JDAM could be the key for getting an important outpost with lots of defenders.

It's not a 500lb bomb it's one 2,000lb bomb. I'm sure you can hear the bomb from a long distance it'll be hard to tell if the bomb is going to hit you or hit a little ways away from you. On the vid you have approx. 38 seconds before it hits you and takes out a HUGE area so you better run.... FAST.

Once every 45 minutes would sound pretty good. On smaller maps, I don't think the JDAM should be available if that's at all possible. I could see militia getting absolutely raped by the JDAM on mestia should they be pushed to their last and only flag.

I like what liquid cow mentioned earlier, with the possibility of having a lesser "Light Artillery Barrage" asset available. Maybe a 10 or more minute reload time, normally to be used against soft targets so you don't have to use a JDAM just to take out a village full of pesky infantry.

If the jets get 500lb, thats the same kind of blast radius as the suicide truck on basra then.

Thats pretty big, big enough to wipe out both front bunkers at vcp. Ive even killed the merlin overhead, most people dont realise its a much larger blast then c4

Maybe they've increased it more since then
