Would make things easier for me maybe. I already changed to toggle crouch in other games, because i hate keeping a key pressed when i have to focus on other things. Especialy in SWAT4, when playing relative slow, it was just annoying. But i can live with how it is at the moment, BF2 is a totaly different game, and you need to move much faster, even in PR, so its okay.

poor mans crouch toggle:
install xfire.
bind the xfire key to an easy key.
hit crouch, toggle the xfire window open the close it.
boom, you can let go of crouch and walk and shoot freely. hit your crouch key again to leave crouch.
yes its ghetto but it does the job
How do you bind the xfire key tto an easy key? I have tryed the xfire/options/chat and it gives me options for voice chat, screenshot and in game chat key binding. are you refaring to one of these? or a key setup to init xfire?

We do NOT need another stance toggle. It's annoying enough for prone when you want to get on your knee, then back down. It's doable but this toggle sometimes makes you stand up when you don't want to. I see this idea causing more similar problems.

Man, I just use one of the side buttons on my MX 1000 mouse. And the other one is for prone.

I use my extra mouse buttons for comm-rose, this means I can use it with 1 hand. Using left hand to press a button, move mouse with right hand & click to do 1 function seems odd to me...
Best setup IMO:
Shift=Sprint (pinky)
Control=Crouch (pinky)
Space=Jump (thumb)
Alt=Prone (thumb)
^ these movement keys shouldn't interfere with with your left index, middle or wedding finger which should (nearly) always be ready on WSAD.
Q=voip
\=map
z=zoom map
x=apc zoom etc...
c=50cal zoom etc...
v=comm chat
Looking at my two pinky fingers, I think my left one is slightly more developed compared to the right which is only ever used to pick my nose...

I prefer toggle.

Lots of "actors" in a movie made by [BF2s] said they had sore pinkies.

I lived with it, but I found it easier to bind it to 'F', as I don't cycle through weapons with that key, too slow.
My Microsoft Mouse also has extra buttons I could use, but the only way is Macro, which doesn't work most of the time. MS couldn't make it easy.
Crouch toggle makes it hard to stand back up. Prone toggle means it takes forever to get up, and by that time, you're dead.

Crouch Toggle would be handy in times, but who really is sneaking around here with crouch for 10+ minutes? TBH It's prone or stand here, crouching comes in handy in urban combat, but a toggle would slow down gameplay like ArmA a lot.

Well i discovered an extremely easy(limited) way to toggle crouch.
Simply, when you have the crouch button pressed down, press "J" or one of the chat keys, and while the chat row is up you can perpetuate the action. its the same for the run button. so effectly, if you wanted to drive a long distance, like a tank accross kashan you can engage a straight line auto pilot.
The down side is, while the chat line is up all you can do it type in letters, you cant effect anything like, turning, or firing the weapon, until you press enter.But its not that bad, try it out, its not the same as a toggle, but its good for staring at an area while sitting in a room with a waist high window.
But im pretty sure i can use Ventrilo as its an outside program and uneffected. must actually look into that.

I'm about 90% sure that J/K/L doesn't work for Running/Proning/Crouching, only normal walking.

<.< I use the menu button between the windows and ctrl button on the right hand side...
then again I use Arrow keys for walking.
