This sounds like a level issue to me guys.

If the level loads completely and then you are CTDing, it probably has to do with your levels being different than the server's.

Try joining different servers running different maps.

Make sure you completely uninstalled .607 and .61 BEFORE you installed any aspect of .7.

Make sure you installed the core then the level .7 exe in that order.

Try downloading the levels from different link / torrent and reinstall.

Run your PR link in windowed mode. [Go to your PR desktop link properties, and change +fullscreen 1 to +fullscreen 0]. This will allow you to see the error messages after a CTD. If you get an odd (not generic) error message, please post a screen shot.

I would love to help you solve the CTF issue because I am a Vista user that is CTD every time. Please give a step by step instruction for the above method of reporting. How do you run a Vista in XP mode?

You can't run Vista in XP mode, you can run an application in XP compatibility mode.

To do that, you can set that level of compatibility by clicking BF2.exe properties, then compatibility tab, where you will check "Run this program in compatibility mode" - Windows XP (Service Pack 2).

I have the same dam thing wrong with mine

I have fixed this! Anyone else running vista should try running following MS hotfix. Once I installed and rebooted, game worked perfectly.

It is a very very small file. 1 min to download MAX.
