OP did make a good suggestion and so did Geze.

For 0.7 patch,

CH crewman: QBZ95b
CH SF: QBZ95

MEC crewman: HK53A3 (sorry bob, I know you wanted the P90 )
MEC SF: Same

US crewman: vBF2 M4 (with a three round burst )
US SF: No change

GB crewman: No suitable replacement at this time
GB SF: No change

CH crewman: QBZ95b
CH SF: QBZ95

So I took exception to this because all the information put forth in this thread suggests that the Chinese military does not use the B version.

Now, we could simply make the assumption that in the near future it would be reasonable to expect the B version to be deployed, and leave it at that. Alternatively we could say that they are not currently used, and remove them. So your opinions?

First of all, multiple pictures taken of the same thing doesn't count as multiple sources.

The first 7 pictures Geze posted were of the PAP (peoples armed POLICE) commandos (Snow Wolf commando unit: here and here), NOT of the ARMY (PLA) special operations. The 9th picture is also of the PAP by the insignia. It's hard to tell who is in the 8th picture, but judging by the circle on the guy's helmet in the background it looks to be another unit of the PAP (what makes you think it's any special operations at all?)

This picture seems to have a QBZ-95B pointed straight at the camera (note the funnel shaped flash suppressor, also seen here and mentioned in the article at the beginning of the thread.) And they have the PLA SOF insignia right in your face.

Of course I'm sure they use normal QBZ-95s as well, along with their sniper rifles and automatic grenade launchers. They should keep their QBZ-95Bs to set them apart from normal infantry.

The People’s Armed Police (PAP) also has a special counter-terrorism unit known as “Special Police Unit” (SPU).

So technically, they ARE special forces. All the pictures I posted are ALL technically Chinese Special Forces.

The image you reference is very unclear, and it is only due to the angle that it looks like the barrel is short.

You post that, while you neglect to post a picture on the same page, which clearly shows, unlike your picture, a Chinese SF using the QBZ-95:

As US special forces encompass a variety of units (ie, Delta, Seals, etc.), so do the Chinese SF.

For instance the Chinese Airforce has it's SF unit, the airborne:

and guess what, they all use the QBZ-95! (not only in pictures, but the page I linked to lists equipment, and it lists the QBZ-95, and not the QBZ-95B)




and you also have the Chinese Navy Marines Commandoes, again they are Chinese SF, and guess what, they use the QBZ-95!

But its special forces of the POLICE, not of the ARMY. They perform civil protection duties, not armed conflicts with other nations.

Like I said, they would of course use the regular QBZ-95 if the situation calls for longer-ranged firepower. We don't give them grenade launchers and sniper rifles just because theres pictures of them with it. They are used in a different manner from other nation's SOF (as stated on the sinodefense page) so they also have a wider range of weaponry to fit their doctrine.

LOL! The Russians are currently fielding the AK-82. It has a self recoiling barrel and is the most accurate assault rifle to ever come out of the AK line. It has 5 parts, and is all black. It also shoots in full auto or 2 shot bursts. It was on the Future weapons show and It was vary impressive. Not only that the weapon was vary accurate. It can shoot over 800 yards where as the older AK-74 can only shoot up too 600 yards at max.

It also uses both NATO 7.62mm and Russian 7.62mm rounds. The Best thing about it is that it is made from the same kind of stuff as the G36C line of guns and is rely reliable.

The only down side is it fire rate was dropped from 600RPMs to only 400RPMs. That was to give the barrel time to absorb the shock from each round. Still it's a weapon that the Russian mod team needs to add, and why they keep giveing Russians these old 8 year out of date tanks is beyond me! OIMG EA did not do it right lets make the Russians use old tech! NOT! They rely do have a BTR-90, and a T-90 main battle tank, as well as the GAZ from BF2, and the Havok as well. Though it was never mass produced, and is only used by the spetsnaz recon teams.

Still they want to give Russians BMP-3,s and old T80Us? Those are both **** and so old it's not even funny!

I edited my post to include more pictures.

I have now shown, pictures of Chinese Army SF with the QBZ-95, Chinese AF Airborne SF with QBZ-95, and Chinese Navy Marine Commandos with QBZ-95.

I have posted pictures of all the Chinese SF with QBZ-95. You have posted no pictures of any Chinese SF using the QBZ-95B.

So now that this read was opened and is totally off-topic, could we get some on-topic responses? I appreciate Geze finding yet more references, I don't know why this argument is continuing. If someone has some serious reference that the QBZ-95B is in common use then please post up. If not, please offer your opinion on whether or not the crewman should be equipped with the B version.

Alright, well after finding this page which is bluntly captioned "QBZ95B short-barrel carbine, which did not enter operational service" I don't think the crewman should have it either.

So now I would change the argument to keep the carbine version just for the sake of variety and with the understanding that the game takes place in the near future. An actual conflict may prompt unused weapons to enter operational service.
