I'd happily have more view distance, if the general populace could support it. If not, keep the prettiness.

The day that people start advocating 2km view distances at the expense of texture and model quality (for example), is the day I stop playing lol. Having a realistic-looking game in all aspects is important to me, and there's more to an immersive enviroment than just being able to see things a long way away.

800*600 using low res textures fine by you then? Because I can tolerate graphics like that in TIE Fighter because that's all that was possible in 1995 and because the gameplay and storyline were truly epic in the real sense of the word.

Given that PR plays brilliantly with view distances as they are, with the game looking pretty good considering it's around three years old, why would you want to start trading graphics off against view distance?

Increase them, yes.
Increase them so hard that even the SLI 8800GS users have to start throttling back the settings? No!

Long view distance is a nice idea and I always have had it 100% no matter what gfx card I owned but on kashan you see tanks shooting helis out of the sky far too easily :/ Its got to be done all in proportion really

I play with GeForce FX 5700 with everything on low except for textures and geometry on medium (I find both of these settings to have no/minimal performance impact), 1024x768 resolution and view distance on 100%.

Nothing more annoying than getting sniped from invisible tanks during tank battle.

I have a 7600gt(s? I don't remember, I could have gotten a 8800 but when my brother gave them to me he took back the 8800 because I don't think I have an extra power connection for the gigantic fan.) and I have to play with most on medium, because al basrah always takes a little time to load up the class and spawn location menu but it takes like 2 minutes to do it on high setting and I have no idea why.

I have a GeForce 8400, I'm running mostly high with dynamic lighting off. I think some multiplayer testing with distance increased would be a great idea. Either it works or it doesn't.

i will try to set up some kind of test to see how far most people pc will go. the test would need about 15 people 5 people with low end, 5 med and 5 high. also what is the recomended video card for pr, i am thinking it would be higher then ea's 6800gt so a 7600gt or gs?

Why do everyone post their GFX card's specs? View distance is 90% about CPU power (if you have 2gb of RAM or more). I have a 7600GT, 2GB of RAM
and Core 2 Duo e6300, and I can play Kashan with 4km view distance (1km - default) with 64 bots and with absolutely no lag.

well, my 7600gt works perfect on all maps on highest video setting with 1024x768 + 4xAA and no AF, although I'm sure I can set AF to a high value with no performance loss.

well gulf of oman could have a issue with increased view distance, cus you could shoot people at there main from anywhere in the map, but none the less it looks alot better. also why does the fog start at such a low distance on some maps, like gulf of oman the fog starts at 50m and at 350m you can see, why not just make it start at 349m and end at 350m, it would make the maps sharper, plus fog is unrealistic for most maps so why not try to have aws little as possible.

The maps with amphibious assault ships could be an issue, but other than that I think distance should be increased as much as possible, and simply assume people play with 100% view distance.
