Solution: Limit pilot kits. (And/or make jet pilot kit/helicopter pilot kit/transport heli kit so that if a map has only one chopper there aren't 5 pilot kits available for it). Yes I know people are going to say "but then teh noobs will gets mah chopper", I think it's better to have only one person capabable of flying than leave it to pure chance between a noob pilot and a good one to get in the aircraft first.Symplify wrote:Alright, the other night I joined a Kashan 24/7 server (already setting myself up for a potential noob fest) and spawned at base. Taking little notice of what was going on, I joined a squad, got a person and hopped in a tank. We went out, capped a flag and snuck around the hills, looking for a tank that had shot us. We found it, killed it, got killed by his buddy. At this point I look at the map and see this blue mass at the airport, and a few dots around the rest of the desert. I think to myself "Now, what's going on here? Why are we not moving for bunkers?" I spawn at base and receive my answer. 8 people, out of 20, were at base, with pilot kits, waiting for the vehicles. We're one hour into the game and nothing so far has raelly been accomplished. There's a few people waiting for tanks etc, but I couldn't get over the 8 effing people waiting for air assets. 1 at the LB, 3 at the Blackhawks, 2 at the F-16 and 2 at the A-10.
Now, this is bad enough, when almost half the team are doing NOTHING AT ALL FOR THE TEAM, but it gets even worse. These vehicles all spawn in at roughly the same time as each other (I'm sure they were crashed in close vicinity the last time they were up...) and me and a squad member get in one of the blackhawks. He and the other blackhawk lift off, we go to bunkers, land, the other BH is killed, but ours drops us and runs. This now leaves 3 people waiting for the 16, 2 for the A-10 and 1 for the LB. The LB spawns, and the pilot roams A-G1 for about 30 mins before getting shot down, the usual. The A-10 spawns (there's the usual "I WAS HERE FIRST OMG!!!! GIMME GIMME GIMME!" between the two people waiting) and within TWO MINUTES, a 20 MINUTE ASSET is lost, accompanied by "OMG!!11!!!11 WTF HAPPENED? I GOT THE BEEPY AND I HIT COUNTERMEASURE BUT I GO BOOM ANYWAY? OMG!" Then of course all these people die, grab their pilot kits and wait again.
Does anyone else despite the idiots who have no idea how to play as a team, or fly so not only is the round ruined, but those of us who can fly, can't? Does anyone else this should be a kickable offense?

Hey, for a new flavor of crappiness, I was just on Kashan Desert. There was hardly anyone on - it was like 10 US on 5 MEC. So I switched MEC, figured I'd hop in a jet since it was basically a tank-plane-APC free for all around the bunkers. There was no one around anywhere.
So, I hop in, checking out my buttons and such, all excited to be able to try out the jet. But while I'm still in the hanger some idiot drives up and parks an AA track RIGHT in front of me, blocking me in. I'm like, dude... move. Move. MOVE THE AA TRACK. So I sat there, and he stood there doing nothing, saying nothing, and he must have known what he was doing because for some reason I got automatically booted shortly thereafter.
I hope he chokes on a twinkie and dies. Really, I do. He wasted at least 10 minutes of my life, and frankly, 10 minutes of mine is not worth years of his as far as I'm concerned.
Death dx - Honestly, if we have 2 people who want to pilot, and one is good and can do the job with skill and daring, and the other keeps crashing into the main base and killing us all, I'm 100% for the good pilot taking out his 9mm and capping the stupid pilot in the head. We have a lot of people who come onto these servers to play, not to watch a respawn counter tick down from one minute because little Johnny can't be bothered to practice on a test map like a normal ^%$#^%#$ human being until he can at least take off without crashing.

Maybe there sould be a limited amount of kits for pilot?
And you can only get them when next to a helicopter or something....
Thus you have to wait for the aircraft to spawn before you can get a pilot kit, and there can only be one given (two for attack choppers and other two man aircraft).
Thus you limit the amount of people who can waste time with the assets or waiting for them (hopefuly). Or you could even make the commander able to ban certain people from getting a pilot kit.

Time to rise to the occasion.

That wouden't work, think about it if a Noob pilot got ahold of a pilot kit and a skilled one din't, then your having problems.Death_dx wrote:Solution: Limit pilot kits. Anyway, on my clan's Armed Assault server we usually kick people that crash more then 2 times (aka flying straight into trees or not knowing how to control the heli), the first time we do a warning, its a good system.
Rico11b: Better than that just take the body out of the game all together, and we'll have floating heads in game.

If/when I get admin on the server I play on, I plan on giving people a warning if I see them constantly sitting at base, I don't give a damn how bad you want to fly or if you were on a spree. I think you should get out there and capture flags or drive cars, hell, even as a distraction if you're too freakin stupid to do anything else.

Yeah, I remember seeing that. It was really funny to see them on the battlefield with pistols drawnLeadMagnet wrote:Could be worse. i have a story from kashan:
ok this is what happened me and my clan mates decide to go and do some pubbing. We decide for kashan desert. Only server with a good amount of ppl is WTF but we think oh well we might have a good round anyways so we join it. shortly after joining the first TK fo a vehicle occurs, we ignore it. We decide to go mechanized infantry so we grab an apc and a tank and head off to take north village since theres already a squad spawned at south(round had just started). We continue playing for another 10 mins then i get directed to grab an a-10 since im in the air unit of my clan. so i head off and surprisingly se no one camping for the a-10, it spawns and i grab it. Thinking some noob was gonna put c4 on me and blow me up i try to take off quickly i manage. I stay in the air for 20 min. long enough to see another a-10 spawn someone take it and lift off. aprox 3 min later i see that the other a-10 has flown up close to me and out of nowhere i get shot at. The other a-10 pilot had driven up to me and just simply shot me down. i ask him why the hell he did it. He answers for practice and fun. then aprox 4 min later im back with my squad and the guy still up in the air. We're now on our way to take MEC outpost still driving and apc and a tank and guess what happens we see the a-10 aproaching and lets loose on the 30mm and all of us in the apc are dead. the tank is still alive but the a-10 takes another few attempts at shooting it down before deciding that crashing into him would be the best option and so he does. He is now kicked from the server and rejoins after that i dont know what happened we left the server.
and a suggestion auto kick for being inside the spawn area of a plane, heli or other valuable equipment for more then 3 min.

Actually, that could be a very good idea, with a slight change. Have it be like entering a vehicle without a pilot kit, if you stand on the helipad or at a jet spawn (when said vehicle is not there), you get, say, a 15-20 second timer, after which it kills you for 5 minutes. This would, hopefully, be a good deterrent for the smacktards. (In those precious five minutes "someonez grabbs teh a10z!1") And, to stop people running in and out of this zone, you'd have the timer get shorter and shorter every time you went back into the zone.markonymous wrote: and a suggestion auto kick for being inside the spawn area of a plane, heli or other valuable equipment for more then 3 min.
I don't know if this'd be difficult or impossible, but if it isn't, I'd say its worth a try.

I HATE THIS
It happens all the time. i wish u needed a Code for the pilot kit.
U can only get the code once uv past the test.
Once a guy said WTF get out i'll fly i said wait there (was in AHZ) went to end of runway did a low alt barrel roll then landed sideways right next to him. He said LOL u pass. But he couldn't gun

Then everyone would just be the usual mob standing outside of the zone waiting to run in.Symplify wrote:Actually, that could be a very good idea, with a slight change. Well, I don't know why you're not agreeing with me, if kits had been limited in your case you would've been able to get out of the plane and get a crewman and move the aa without the smacktard requesting another pilot kit and getting in with the additional possiblility of tking him so he didn't steal the kit from you after the pool time. Btw I think he was going to try to make you get out to move the AA, but lucked out with you getting afk kicked.boltcatch wrote: Death dx - Honestly, if we have 2 people who want to pilot, and one is good and can do the job with skill and daring, and the other keeps crashing into the main base and killing us all, I'm 100% for the good pilot taking out his 9mm and capping the stupid pilot in the head. Limiting kits will make it pointless to sit around the airfield, there's no way to stop unskilled pilots from using the aircraft, so you may aswell just reduce the number of idiots wasting player slots by camping the airfield. At least this way the good pilot can guarantee whether or not he'll get the vehicle.
I think everyone would just wait for the vehicle to spawn and then try to request before the other guys, still leaving the problem of morons staying at the airfield the entire round.Freelance_Commando wrote:Maybe there sould be a limited amount of kits for pilot?

Yeah, but they just get killed inturn for picking it up. So they'll still be an even chance for the next person to get it. If possible that could be solved by giving a reduced timer for the person killed. So they can request the kit again, before the tker.Reddish Red wrote:That wouden't work, think about it if a Noob pilot got ahold of a pilot kit and a skilled one din't, then your having problems.

Well I don't agree with kicking people waiting for the black hawk or jets. I normally have to wait for 15 mins for the cobra with sparky (my trusty co-pilot) because some noob didnt even let the engine prime. I can keep a cobra or bh alive for about a hour and 15 mins for a usual life span with my copilot when I crash and go back to wait and some noob steals it from us and crashes it into the wall by spinning around on the pad in less than 15 secs thats what pis*es me off. Some noobs need to learn before they get into a aircraft.

Yeh this is true, I understand that people want to learn how to fly, but why don't they just join a server with 5 people or less instead of joining servers with like 64 ppl where jets are needed for backup...then you have to wait 10 minutes for the backup. I usually play transport (BH, Littlebird) since I lag because of my RAM

Yeah newbies shouldnt be allowed to get the pilot kit. But what defines a good pilot ot a pilot that is acceted to fly a heli/jet I am learning it on teh training map but what I see is that really I need to train and get some experience in the war. It gets alittle tiresome to exctract and kill imaginary targets after a while. So tehn i just drive around in the chaopper doing stunts like in quinling where I drive true teh trees something I would never do with a passenger or in maultiplayer anyway. But then I can land and take off I have read mst of guides on the forum, ut still I dont feeel prepared because if I wreck it I know whats coming
So could someone say to me what should you be able to do to be accepted as a pilot. BTW: I use keyboard only if I try with the mouse I will always crash because I am to addapted to teh keyboard only. SO would you sit on with me?
Lets try to define a good pilot or a accpetable pilot? Because I wont to know what you guys think.
