The main problem with the INS version now is that all the caches spawn and cant be defended. At the end of the game with only one or two caches left it gets better, the brits are forced to attack and the INS get to defend, but until then it just sucks.
yea exactly that is the problem, the insurgents need 1 or 2 common defend locations and if the brits get the caches the next 2 caches spawn somewhere.
this would be much more fun

from my point of view the problem on this map are the silly players that only try to kill the people in the VCP and the brits who try to defend the vcp. on the must a dangerzone for ins ( i mean they getting automatic shot when their going in!)and a spawnpoint which cant destroyed should be in there. otherwhise to much brits only try to kill insurgents and not to find the weapon caches and my opinion is when you want to kill only enemies play counterstrike or 16player maps. PR is mod where you have to think and not only kill everyone. to much guys only driving into city leave the car which then never respawn cause it wont get destroyed by insurgent when nobody sit in it. so the point which matter the most are the players, too much guys think this is an FUN MAP but it isn“t.

Exactly... I have an idea that mixes AAS with the Insurgency gamemodes. Basically being in the case of Al Basrah, the Brits would search for caches by specific areas as opposed to random locations throughout the entire city. The caches would be separated into "Cache Groups", which would contain about 3 to 4 caches all within one area.
For example, the first group spawns in in the West Village area (Represented in Black). The second group on the West City area (Represented in Red), the third group within the Central City, Mosque area (Represented in Blue) and finally the last group in the East City, Suburban areas (Represented in Green).
This would concentrate the fighting into certain areas of the city, rather than having players all over the map, with random firefights with a squad and a few Insurgents at best. At the same time, it keeps that "Search & Destroy" element for the Brits, but in this scenario they're likely to encounter a lot more resistance.

I vote for Terranova's plan.

For anyone who didn't bother reading the last rather long posts, I've made a summary.
What we've decided is that Al Basrah needs a change to force each team to play more realistically instead of, *quote* driving in ze desert. To do this, Terranova suggests that Al Basrah be played as a sort of AAS map except the INS team would not be able to re-take certain areas of the city.
The AAS order would be the circled areas from left to right in Terra's post. But instead of capturing control points (flags), the GB Team would have to destroy all the weapons caches in one area to move to the next one. This realistically portrays Insurgent fighting because as GB are taking ground, the INS are being forced to retreat to their next stronghold: the 2nd area of weapons caches. Lastly, to prevent the GB Team from just entering the city from any point and destroying cache areas out of order, the map would be played as AAS (Assault and Secure).

no i dont like the idea that would replace the battlefield only for some areas-.-
I think al basrah dont need a change. Cause the INSmap with Intelligent points shows which guys know how to play the map right. so much idiots are shooting civilians that wouldnt get better in an AAS. I think the gamemod is very good as it is now. i want more maps like al basrah
