Lol, I take it you aren't a fan of their food? I see that a lot with foreigners when I travel to Asia a lot, not many are used to the food and it goes right through em. You should have seen the rest of my squad in Thailand, I swear some of those guys must have been crapping lava.

Hussar, looks like you guys got a good tan by then end of your deployment. Looking at the snow falling in my yard, and then looking at the pics of Iraq, really makes me jealous right now.

Zi8...uh, DAMN! Way too cold for my liking. That last pic doesn't look bad though, nice terrain for field ops.

I'll see if I can find my pics, will need to scan them though as I only have a couple on the PC right now. Unfortunately most of my time in I never thought of taking pics even though a lot of the other guys did. The pics I do have were taken by me, so it's hard to find any with myself in the frame.

I'd like to hear the story behind the parking ticket in a armored vehicle. Personally I'd have challenged it just to get my day in court to watch the judges reaction :)

That is the flag of the Afghanistan, Silly man.

And yes I was in the 25ID. Tropic Lightning!

As for the snow. The Zabul province is about 6000 feet above sea level and gets stupid cold in the winter (talking at night -20 with the wind). It's a desert after all. Anybody who's ever been to NTC in the winter knows what I'm talking about.

I was recruiting and we took a Scimitar for the kids to climb on. I left it with a young trooper in the High Street early in the morning whilst i went to get a cup of tea.
Came back and they slapped me a ticket!! It was market day apparently and we had it too far into the road.

How do you enforce payment when the guy with the ticket drives an armored vehicle? I wouldn't want to wake up to 8 tons of armor in my living room.

Did you guys challenge it in court? Who had to pay it? I can't honestly believe they gave you one.

You can post any pics related to military service. They don't have to be combat. Here are a few more from Fallujah.

Here they are:
Kicking back in the recliners with Cd, watching a lot of heavy fighting around the city.
Image
This is a shot of Cd standing next to the Blackwater bridge, looking down the MSR that ran through Fallujah towards the end of the assault.
Image
This is a neat pic of a sandstorm (I'm on the left, my buddy's on the right).
Image
Some Marines during a firefight with a squad of insurgents across the road.
Image
Something blowing up during the beginning of assault
Image
A 500 pounder coming in on a squad of insurgents that were taking shots at us.

This is a Dragunov that Cd and I "aquired" during the assault.

We were looking for insurgents firing mortars off of the back of their trucks, and we found a nice quarry to jump into. You know what they say about all work and no play.

Another 500 pounder coming in.

Doing some recon.

"Oi, you've gone and left your here tank too far in the road. I'm gonna hafta write you up for that one."

OK, got the scanner working...

First me and my two best buds at the range, this was just before 1st Gulf War I'm the tallest one.
Image

Next, my buddy and I in a raging sand storm. Tents on the left, shitters are on the right behind us across the street. No sense in using toilet paper in this weather, it just ground in the sand.
Image

Then some of us went native while over there, at least we got some nice souviners out of it...

Iraq looks like a very inviting vacation for me right now, but I don't know if I could handle Afghanistan. I'm a little confused about a desert with snow  I want 120+ temps and plenty of sun. Plus Iraq has Bhindi Ki Subji (type of food), which I think is one of the top 20 foods on earth.
Damn, dude, you can find all of that off-season in Vegas.
