How about all the DEV's sell themselves out to EA and work up a huge promotional program where EA gives them the source code, all the DEV's go around the world on shows promoting "EA's Reality Mod", we get the source code and everything is peachy. EA sells more of an old game, PR players get fastropes and more cannon fodder, and the DEV's lose any dignity they had.

80,000 US ?
If you get 80 people to invest 1,000 each ?
I would put up a few hundred on the spot.
You should look into community investment.
I thought the lic would cost 500,000 Us or more.
80 grand is an achievable figure.

My tears evaporate
Leaving only charcoal to defend.
Finally I understand the feelings of the few.

There's a ton of people on here + since the release wouldn't be exclusively PR other mods might pitch in and their communities.ArmedDrunk&Angry wrote:80,000 US ?

80.000$ ? Hey thats only 55.000 € ! If everybody start clicking their daily ads and chip in 10-50€ its done in no time.
Then PR will be able to sell their modification, start asking a bit more money for the struggling Devs, updates will start growing longer and finally PR will be making sports and racing games with its new franchise ... Oh and a PR version of Harry Potters Quiddish thingy

sorry to burst your bubble - at most i see a dozen fully active servers at peaktime. times that by an optomistc 3 timezones and you still only have (guesstimate) a few thousand active PR players.
Although its a nice pipedream, it does not sound a realistic venture to buy the engine and sell the PR as a retail product. I keep reading that the stated aim of the devlopers was to create a game they liked to play, to acheive mass market appeal you produce a game like ...well. BF2 vanilla

A lot of these statements are pretty tongue in cheek. This is actually an old topic[left open for fun], joked about before, etc. It would be nice yeah, but I dont think any of us are really seriously considering it... unless we have a dreamer out therewillgar wrote:sorry to burst your bubble - at most i see a dozen fully active servers at peaktime. times that by an optomistc 3 timezones and you still only have (guesstimate) a few thousand active PR players.

Our bubble was built on the idea of 80 @ 1000each or 1000 @ 80each and taking your numbers as correct it is an entirely possible idea that the bubble is a actually a new-age rigid dirigible, complete with video board on the side.
There is some mass market appeal for realism since this in not the only realistic FPS out there.
IMHO it is the best but there are many who don't like to deal with the WIP problems and given access to the code I would guess that solutions to many of those problems, as well new features would come very quickly.
While the discussion is "tongue-in-cheek" at the moment I would hope that the more people talk about it, the less the tongue in the cheek, so to speak.
It is possible to raise money, I hear people who have never worked an honest day in their lives and are known worldwide as liars and cheats can raise millions of dollars.
Given that I would think we could come up with enough cash for a politician's haircut to enhance and better a game that has no peer.

Yep exactly... After BF2 were released EA saw the great sucess and they bought DICE... Its still called dice but its EA´s dice now... Well you can ask them but you never will get any sources of them... at first they got the rights not you... second is it includes years of development... They wont release it because of the serial Part inside the sources...M4nicMin3r wrote:I wouldnt have thought it was anything to do with dice anymore..,i wouldve thought EA has bought the rights to the source code.., good luck with that :X

Hi first post, and new. I love this mod and played PR 6.09 for awhile.
Couldn't resist posting, seeing as how Battlefield Heroes was announced I'd bet that as soon as PR offers EA $80,000 for the source code they'd download the latest PR mod (if they havn't alread) and build it inot their next expansion for which ever Battlefield game they just released.
It'd be great if it worked though.

Guys, all we have to do is find a multi-millionaire, get him addicted to PR and have him buy the source code! Now, does anyone personally know any multi-millionaires?
If no one knows any multi-millionaires, then we scour the internet to find the most wealthy gamers, and send them copies of BF2+ PR! It's so brilliant it has to work.
