its not having the sl is only 14 or younger. it is that when dudes are not expierenced in pr. and that is what i dislike. i think most young guys could become decent officers after some months of playing pr if they combine the following: 1.accepting not to be the best soldier in the field from the first day on, 2.ability to learn, 3.not giving up.
in other words: join squads, follow the orders like anyone does, do not rely on the biggest guns and the guys with the best K/D, when you died dont be sad, just think why you died.
I dont think age comes into it. To me a player who has played regularly and has a lot of experience will do better than someone who is a casual player regardless of their age. I have been in squads with SL's of all ages and nationalities, and attitude/experience are the two main factors deciding if they are a good leader or not. I am 42 and dont play every night, so dont expect to be as good as someone who plays every day and my age doesnt come into it because of that.
I don't mind them as they are usually eager to learn and accept constructive criticism. Which is a bit less the case (from my experience) with certain "hormone a plenty" teenagers who are keen being jerks
So I'll take an eager but misguided kid over a ego whore any time.
Imagine that someone ten years ago used the text above when suggesting such a game product to the board in the developer division of the cooperation and at the same time state it probably would become a success in the long run.
So true Michael, very good points.
I simply decide if I want to stay in the squad or on the server based on their performance and EFFORT!!
Yeah, I've never based my opinions on age. Given, the younger you are the more likely you are going to be immature, but I've never been bothered by young players in my squad. Given, the squeaky voice isn't good, but we all live though it.
4 outta 5 young SL or Commanders are either not skilled enough to fit the role, have a voice and an attitude that drives you crazy or do not have the patience required in the role. Most importantly lack the maturity to be serious in a serious mod like PR.
When you have those sort of odds, you don't exactly bet on the 20% chance they are actually pretty good. Your first instinct is to leave squad and join another or make your own.
I'm okay with it, as long as they actually help. I remember having two young SMs in my sqaud once, they were a APC sqaud and all they did was bikering who should drive or gun and eventually was killed by a mine (of which they blamed eachother).
I don't like under 14s, they haven't got enough patience and some take themselves way too seriously (which is fun in squeeky voice)
Rico11b: Better than that just take the body out of the game all together, and we'll have floating heads in game.
Going a bit off-track, but then again not without a point.
Who knows, if the game provided only 1 ticket per player/time period - in a round, maturity/tactics would maybe become more common?
You know, like in RL, one-ticket only, seems to work fine on that account there.
Define irony. A bunch of guys playing PR year after year. A game teaching initiative as the prime mover. However, in regard to EA, these guys never took the initiative.
We who play these kinds of games are the first generation of war robot pilots.Today we pilot a camera in 3D heaven,Tomorrow...http://gametactic.org/pr
IMO it's not the age that counts it's the apptitude. You could be 10 or 100 but if you're good enough I'm not complaining, although squeeky voices do get on my tits.
