It's a really nice map, especially with the .7 changes. Defending a flag with a landie for ages, checking with other squads that you don't move into each other's firing zones by accident...love it.

a night map like that requires squad and team cohesion. It also requires different sort of fighting. The map is crucial, movement is crucial. Most players cannot get their heads round the changes that are required to play it properly.

It is one of the best maps ever for PR.
But it got to many trees

Are there helicopters on this map?

Can't play it, regardless of what I do to my settings, in game, monitor or on card, the map is just too dark for me. I can see all of two meters with night vision on and that's if there are bushes and trees in front of me, if it's flat ground or water, it's pure black to me. Nothing like the BF2 Spec Ops night maps.

yeah because the SF night maps could be gamma hacked, Bi Ming can't
its dark for a reason, its night time

Funny you should mention that.....,
Just had the craziest round of bi ming with some of our can members playing 70's disco music in TS..., its hard to cap a CP and not dance in game to YMCA or macho man whilst fuelled with vodka and doner kebab.... and still somehow we managed to win aswell :s
I really wish i wouldve frap's it whilst me and another clan member was dancing in one of the houses to YMCA at the flag when a chinese guy came in and stood for split second to watch us then he threw a nade in. I lol'd

That's all very nice and well, but if I can't see where I'm going I'm not going to be any use. Needs a moon or stars, something to give the ground a little light so I can at least move without having the map open all the time.

Well personally I dont like it because I am already playing with every single video detail set to low/off except for view distance and in 800*600 and still get 15-20 fps at times. I dont need a nightvision goggle to make it even worse. Who knows, if I had the proper Pc config I would like the map.

The NVGs bother me. The green circle on my screen already blocks the view, so I find myself looking around even more.
I had headaches on this map in 0.6, when it was all tard rushing and I couldn't kill more than one guy without being mowed down by a super accurate Sp3c 0p gun.
Was fun with the bigger grass in open beta, in the full 0.6 I had nowhere to hide

I hate night maps, can't see **** and my LCD monitor sucks at displaying black and dark colors, and I don't like NGVs.

The thing is, Bi Ming only has the night setting. Nothing else about the map is interesting in any way. It is just a series of islands with small bases in the middle of them. There is no compelling reason for the map to be laid out as it is. If it was not a NVG map, it would never have made it into PR.
That kind of makes it a one trick pony that gets dull after a bit.
Also the NVGs are not too good and there is no thermal vision.

and you've got better ones?, or have proof of every British/Chinese standard infantryman using thermal sights in a night battle (excluding gun sights) ?

It’s loads better in .7
(like the ctd bug being fixed) and I think a lot of people haven’t tried it since, which is a shame.
Hardly ever any inf engagements
Hewwo! Only 2 APC’s on the whole map… It’s all about the infantry, which is personally my favourite element of PR.
it mainly plays out on defending a flag that noone attacks
Nah that was in .6 noob

It’s AAS 1 now so there’s only ever 1 flag to attack at a time, drastically increasing the action!
I’ve definitely had some of my most intense and enjoyable rounds on Bi Ming, even though that’s sadly only like 2 full rounds

I agree that people don’t know how to adapt to playing in this different environment, and it is very demanding on squad cohesion.
If it was not a NVG map, it would never have made it into PR.
It was designed to be a night map, so it is a night map… Kasharn was designed to be a 4k map, so it is. If Kasharn wasn’t 4K there wouldn’t be so many open spaces etc. Bi Ming is designed for lots of hard close quarters infantry combat with a few dangerous open areas that present different challenges at night time where you illuminate yourself clearly by firing your weapon.
It is just a series of islands with small bases in the middle of them
You could say that about loads of maps, and to me your sentences are just a series of words with fullstops in them, there’s no compelling reason for these words to be laid out as they are my dear wickle noob

I personally like Bi Ming a lot. Did some pubbing with my PRT squad on it and we had a lot of fun. As the only nightmap it's really intense, too many people (and apparently admins) are afraid of it, so it just doesn't get played enough.

Frankly, the nightvision setup of Bi Ming is what annoys me. The restricted vision on the nightvision goggles (why couldn't they just round the corners, vision on a computer screen is restricted enough) and only being able to zoom with the weapon makes it even worse to see anything. Basically I struggle the whole time to see anything, not because it is night and everything is green, but because I'm playing on the equivalent of a 13 inch monochrome monitor on a 21 inch screen.
If it was a full screen with rounded edges for the goggles I would enjoy the map.

Ive said it before ,i'll say it again.., I honestly believe this is THE most immersive map in PR EVER, yet everyone seems to hate it and it never appears to be in anyones map rotation.
WHY WHY WHY?????!!!!
Short answer:
Cuz it blows.
'nuff said
/thread etc.
Long answer:
A)it's a night time map, night time maps in general tend to be boring because players aren't used to the NVG so they don't expanding their zones of movement.
B)it's a night time armor map. Which doesn't need explaining.
C) it sucks.
KINDA OT:
Does anyone know if with current issue NVG goggles in RL it's still bloody hard to look through your rifle's sights? Would be cool in PR, seeing a night time map with people being forced to rely on point firing.

Icehollow the short answer is:
You’re an R-Tard
Long answer
Having two APC’s hardly makes it an “armour map” since it still leaves up to 60 people not using crewman kits! Plus the infantry still get light AT which, with a bit of teamwork, makes dealing with an APC very easy.
If you don’t think my longer explanation justifies me being rude about you in the first place then please take a moment to think about this and how it relates to your above post.

O_M_G....,
Well dunno quite how to respond to that, apart from
A) Night maps boring? ROFL!!!omgz0rzbbqsc!!eleventy0ne! players dont expand their movement zones??? i beg to differ., if anything they are increased.
B) "Armour map????" rofl.., the apcs just shout "HEY IM OVER HERE, AT/C4 ME!". Any round ive been on bi ming the armour has been delt with extremely quickly with next to no hassle at all.
C) errrr w/e
BTW devs chrs for fixing the CTD on load on this map

I will say one thing... It would be very cool to have Bi Ming as a Daytime map as well. I think it would be an excellent day time map. That way playing the same map at Night would be very cool since you've seen the same map during the day.
I would love to see Day and Night on this map and a few others as well.
