Never noticed this, it's just not an important factor.

Ssh I don't want to share my romantic moments in publicSadist_Cain wrote:Bah! and they call this project reality
How could this of got past the testers?!?! :cussing: :cussing:
no attention to detail... none at all
Rabble rabble!
*picks up running shoes* Hehe
Seriosly though, you must have been having a romantic sunset PR moment to notice this... I hope you were alone![]()
Good, then do that. Theres nothing in PR thats stopping you.Late morning, the sun is slightly high in the sky... let's attack from the eastern hills.
Read eddies post. On maps that are morning, the sun is low. I really dont get what you are wanting aside from this. The original post was on how the direction of the sun doesnt correlate with the actual compass readings. Thats not a big deal. Merely adapt and use the new degrees reading of the sun, its not a gameplay effecting issue by any means. It IS project reality after all so if it's dawn it should be dawn in EVERY sense of the word, not just what makes the map look prettiest.
Even than it is still not correct..[R-CON]OkitaMakoto wrote: Not to mention, the sun doesnt rise and set the same all across the world, nor does it follow the same path through the sky. You gonna get different locations of the sun based upon the locations latitude. The DEV and map makers are NOT about to research the suns rising and setting locations of their given area just so the sun is in a more accurate location.
Haha, exactly. You can't expect every map maker to find the most accurate position of the sun for the current season, location, latitude, time of day, etc for the map in question. That's ridiculous.Engineer wrote:What?!
Because the sun doesnt "move", this is a clear indication that earth has stopped rotating and perhaps even orbiting the sun. To make this situation even somewhat realistic, I suggest changing the gravity to 0.

Or Maybe the PR compass tells lies..
But in every(?) map the sun is on the North... a thing I don't understand since the sun should be on the West or East on (almost?) every map..
Or is the BF2/PR sun just a little joke which in fact is not the sun but the northern star?

Why not? Also maps are part of Project Reality, so they should pay attention to this in future.'[R-CON wrote:OkitaMakoto;596490']Haha, exactly. Time in PR[battlefield 2] is stagnant, the sun doesnt move, so why worry about the position of the sun in terms of "realism".
Why is this thread even still being debated?
Yeah, ofcourse the sun should not be straight on west or east or right above you (if not in reality) But straight on the north is not realistic at all In most maps,.. most maps are not at the south side of the world, are they?'[R-CON wrote:OkitaMakoto;596490']
The sun is dif on every map as it is set by the mapper when the map is made. The sun is NOT always in the east or west. Depending on your location on the earth, the sun is farther out to the north or south. It sets out in the western horizon, and rises in the east, but once up in the day sky, it all depends on your location. The farther north you are, the farther south the sun is according to the compass. Its all due to the angle of the earth relative to the orbit around the sun. [hence why its daylight for like 6 months in the south pole, the angle isnt enough for the sun to actually "set" during that time]
Im at roughly 40 degrees north latitude, and currently, the sun is to the south. Sure it rises and sets roughly east/west, but its path through the sky "appears" to curve to the south.
trust me you do not want to be around okita when he is mad, because well even i leave speeks when he is mad...[R-CON]OkitaMakoto wrote:Just because of this thread, every/any map I make/get my hands on is going to have the sun in the wrong place in the sky. I'm not even kidding. This is my serious face.

Put the antique back in its box (and make sure you put it safely into your backpack; those things are hella expensive and the optics are very fragile), then turn on the RIB's GPS system, chart plotter, sonar depth-sounder, radar and check the windspeed vanes can swing freely.Cp20000 wrote:I do, I have noticed that my sextant wont work properly on bi ming, the stars are all wrong. How am I supposed to navigate my RIB in darkness when I cant trust my sextant?
