The SA80 would be the best rifle on Earth if it had a two-round burst. Yes, 2-round, not three; with a 3-round burst, the third round usually never hits the target because of the compound recoil of the burst.
Anyway, in my first .7 Basrah game, I was a British scoped rifleman at the foot of a building. An insurgent opened fire from the roof above me, and I jumped down to the ground to fire, waiting a few seconds between shots. His head was barely sticking out, but based on my .6 experience, I thought it would be an easy kill.
30 seconds of solid fire and 3 clips later, neither of us died.

Oh wow can you imagine that?? A 30 second firefight?!!? How unrealistic
Sorry if i come off like an *** hole but come on.

And it sounds more like a rifle now? C'mon, it squeaks, it fires a lead bullet from a case from of explosive gunpowder, but it does not bang, it squeaks.
The L85 used to be really good, I could dominate with that or the L86 STAR, but now with all the strange deviation I can sniper better with the M16, something that was impossible in .6

When I just started to play 0.7, I encountered the same problems except it was with every rifle especially QBZ95. I would count to two in my head and shoot but I still get bad deviation.
Later I realized that I, like most people tend to count too rapidly when excited, so whenever I raise the sight I say "ALLAH ACKBUR ALLAH ACKBUR ALLAH ACKBUR" Then take the shot and I usually hit the target. I don't know if there is a divine entity guiding my bullets, but for me this method works
BTW, don't try to hit anything with the Marksmen or Sniper, they are bugged at the moment.

You couldn't snipe with the laser shooting M16s in .6? Where were you playing, tardzone?

lol dude, that's awesome. I definitely need to work on settle time, as I'm still in .6 mode: aim for head, fire repeat until target is dead.
TBH I still haven't really figured out the ACOG, but with the SUSAT I feel quite competent.

I love the scope on the G3, what's it called? The QBZ seems like the best rifle for me, with G3 as number 2. G3 only needs one body shot to really, REALLY scare someone, and the QBZ is nice and accurate. M16 is ok but sometimes really inaccurate (only every now and then though). Just played with the L85 again, and boy, I feel safer with a knife :O

I can't use any of the guns. Most of the time I'm engaging in distances much, much less than what the sights are zeroe'd in for. Which means that I have to compensate backwards for bullet drop or something. Which, I can't do.

As I keep saying... Full auto and you can pop off rounds in as many bursts as you like... That's one of the best things about the rifle

If you are in CQB within 5m of an enemy, just pull your knife out and go for them. You have a better chance than with a gun, lol! I've been testing this theory out recently and if within 5m of 3 enemies who aren't particularly good players I can usually take 2 of them out before the third shoots me finally.

the guns are not zeroed in the way you think, the bullet does not go above the scope ever, each bullet has a gravity modifer so m40a3 bullets drop less then a m16.

I took out 6 flag defenders in one go with this. I admit I surprised them, got between them (forcing crossfire on them) and changed my stance a lot.

Yeah. Bullets come from the center of the screen which has been lined up with the top of the post/center of the crosshair of each weapon. Zeroing is possible at this stage by the implementation isn't perfect.

well i have a way of zeroing the guns i think it is the same as yours, i just need to get a missile to have thrust without tracking something then it should work fine.
ned could you please elaborate on your idea for zeroing the guns i am very interested in your way.

I could swear the guns are zeroed in. From my experience, it very much seems like they are. Even the guide says it.
Assault Rifles in Project Reality are "zeroed" at 300m. With the BF2 engine this means that you will only have to compensate for the bullets trajectory at distances greater than this.
Weapons - Project Reality Wiki
---
I know it says you only have to compensate after 300m, but I swear.....you really have to do the opposite at shorter ranges. I just can't seem to land shots - even after "resting"

Zangoo: I've relocated the barrel relative to the sights. Not as good as moving the sights relative to the barrel but hey.
Mekstizzle: if anything all the guns are zeroed at 0m as the rounds comes from the centre of the crosshair/tip of front post

the guide says that but the tweak file says something diffrent. also nedlands did you find a way to angle the barrel or is the barrel just higher up using ObjectTemplate.fire.projectileStartPosition 0.1/-0.15/0?

The SA80 is king on Basrah.

Bullet don't drop till they hit the zeroed point in BF2's engine, what each weapon is zeroed at is something for a dev to say, if it's realistic, it should be about 500m on the SA80A2.
