Tanks don't use chutes I don't think, MBTs are too heavy now. The C-130 would be rediculously large in game, and I think a B-52 is much larger than a Lancaster bomber. Putting enourmous planes like the B-52 into BF2 based games is a little nuts. There isn't enough map to bomb! Also, realistically, it would be just a big clay-pigeon. It can't really run and hide, can't make any great evasive manouvers and I would bet on seeing every mounted MG on the opposing team lighing into it as the thing would be impossible to miss.
Cool? YES
! Practical? Not quite

Air force definition of explosives: A loud noise followed by the sudden going away of what was once there a second ago.
Retreating?! Hell no, we're just attacking the other direction!

Are you thinking of the B-17 flying fortress? Or maybe the B-29 superfortress? The B-52 has been in service since the fifties and with the many upgrades they've had will likely keep them in service for a long time to come.Cerberus wrote:The B-52 has not been used by the U.S. since 1946
Seems too big and impractical for PR

The only ones that come close to dropping tanks out their planes are the Russians. AFAIK still not MBT's though. Caught an episode of Wings where they showed an Soviet air drop. BMD's freefalled with parachutes and right before they hit retro rockets went off to soften the landing. Looked highly impressive compared to what NATO was capable of.

Found some nice vids of the C-130, AC-130, and B-52,
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 96&q=c-130
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 365&q=b-52
It would we be sweet though If the devs could put in some ground atack aircraft like the AC-130 Spectre and the A-10 Thunderbolt, here are some vids of those two.

I got all these vids from one great website and they've got tons more.
