But did you get the positional audio working in a practical ingame manner?

We really REALLY need to get a standardised set of settings up, and then to get as many people on a server as possible to test it as a practical method of communications in PR.

Yes. Settings:

Volume: 100%
MinDistance: 3.0m
MaxDistance: 100.0m
RollOff: 0.90
Bloom: 100%

Excellent, I'll get the whole of iGi on with this during the weekend.

Agreed, better quality than TS, and the positioning audio is just bad ***....

I have been testing this out with AncientMan the other day, but positional audio just didn't work. It says it supports Battlefield 2 1.41, but so far we had no cigar.

Anyone got positional audio to work in PR?

Yep, just played a few rounds with it. It's pretty nifty :)

Odd, AncientMan and I tried everything, but nothing.. But a good thing it does work!

So, do you have to be in the same channel to hear others? Or how does it work exactly? I haven't managed to find decent information about it, only that it's possible, lol.

We tried it over Hamachi, being on the same server created by Katarn. In your configuration section, scroll over to the plugins tab and make sure you check the "Link to game and transmit position" box. Also make sure you go to the overlays tab and uncheck the "Enable Overlay" too, so you don't get kicked from punkbuster.

Jump onto a server and test it out. Use your push-to-talk key or w/e to try it out.

Yep, we did it all, but got nothing. AM created a training server and I joined him. The server was passworded, perhaps that matters...?

Maybe, we tried it on a public server. Was able to get a full squad using Mumble (which was quite entertaining :) )

do you have to restart BF2 for changes to mumble's setup to take effect?

Not sure, but I know you can alt tab and change the configurations and they will take effect, but I don't remember anyone trying to set up mumble's while in-game.

it sounds very badass in any case.

Perhaps we could all jump on TG this weekend/the iGi match password server to play with this en masse?

No, trahnlee set it up entirely while ingame, and Jaymz and the rest of us were editing settings ingame all the time.

Is TG considering the standard use of Mumble over TS in the near future? I think it'd be more immersive with positionnal communications + a radio-key set on another keybind (No ingame VOIP tho).

I'm going to try it this weekend, very promising!

PS : Just imagine how usefull/funny this would be? It's like that new WWII mod for HL2.. can remember the name.. But I mean, you could just call for another squad's medic that's close without having to ask your SL to ask his SL over VOIP/TS..
Or even surrender? Hah that would be funny!

Or even surrender?
I think we should take it one step at a time :D

each team in a different channel

everyone on the same channel...being able to hear convos...now that is just too much to ask.

It would be lovely if a server operator stepped forward to try and set up the first PR mumble teamwork night. I'm sure iGi would be up 4 it, but not being a proper admin I don't have the authority to offer.

So how does this work? can i just join a TS server and use this program? Or does it have to a specific mumble server?

You have to download and install Mumble and then connect to Murmur.

Info:
Client application = Mumble
Server application = Murmur
