I still use XP, as TBH Vista is currently only a Stop Gap OS, for the "finalised Longhorn / Windows 7" OS. Exactly the same as Windows ME was for Windows 2000,
So until that comes around, I am going to hang on to XP, its done me fine so far ;-)

Even Bill Gates is hinting about Vista, not being great ????

Holy ****: Did Bill Gates Just Say Windows Sucks?

Same here too, also on XP.

From what I remember...

XP was codenamed Whistler, a ski resort here near Vancouver. It's actually called Whistler/Blackcomb as those are the two mountains in the resort.

Blackcomb was the codename for the next actual release of Windows (they have changed the codename now I think)

Longhorn is the name of a popular bar that is situated between the two mountains.

So indeed, it is a stop gap OS.

Personally I think its miles ahead of vista, there attempt to bring 3d to the desktop is mediocre at best.

Runs games good as well, Doom 3, ET:QW, EVE Online, Darwinia and Defcon I have as well.

I can run BF2 on GNU/Linux as well but to be honest it doesn't run as well as other games.[/quote]

If it had DX10 support or somethign of the equivalent ( which actually worked properly ) i would switch to linux for good tomorrow, goodbye windows forver.
Unfortunatly its lacking in this area which stops it from becomeing the most powerful Os in the world as far as home use is concerned. It already is as far as server software , since it powers something like 90% of the worlds servers.

As for the poll.., ill use XP until dx10 games forces me to upgrade to vista.

OpenGL 3.0 will come out soon.

you will native Dx support on anything but windows, but dont expect any Dx10 only games any time soon.

I don't see what's wrong win xp professional besides the fact that it does not support direct x 10 but when the time comes I will have to buy vista some time.. Plus the fact you need atleast 2gb of ram to run it because of all of the useless colors and effects, Vista is only good whhen it comes to Crysis.
