Gotta take into consideration that it must be kinda annoying when people don't listen to a word you say about searching before posting too. A few new(er) guys will post something, be kindly asked to search first, then make another equally suggested post a few minutes later obviously taking no notice of what they were politely asked to do?

I usually se4nd them a message which is more appropriate on teh forums I work on, which involves merging threads and tweaking the text and then PMing the member what I have done and for what reason and hope their brain figures out what they are meant to do the next time.

Even worse than this is newsgroups access in a vB forum. We got banned due to weenies in the newsgroups protesting, so had to change host to get in again and now vet each and every post/thread made in the newsgroups area. That can be time consuming, luckily where we do that we leave the forum open to everything but posting (requiring registration) and craftily hide the newsgroups access until certain basic obligations have been met.

I'm afraid your wrong dude, wrong wrong wrong.

You are basically replacing schoolyard bullies who say, stfu to those who request things. oh let me see, whats it called again...oh thats right...oppression.

Now you can close the topic, after you have given your long winded rant about how stupid and wrong i am, until it satisfies you, and you get bored and let it go.

:P
And the great thing about posting critical comments like that is that it puts us into the position from which we don't want to warn you for having a **** attitude towards the team.

If we warn you, it "proves" your point and you can say "look, they oppressed me!". If we don't warn you, it says "hey, you can come in here, disregard the rules, then say you're being oppressed - and you will get away with it!".

It would be oppression if you had any right to be here. No-one has the right to be here - you sign up, CLICK THE BOX THAT SAYS YOU AGREE TO THE RULES and that gives you permission to post - permission to post on privately owned forums. There's no right to free speech, no right to freedom to post, no right to post a signature or use an avatar. All that's asked for you to be allowed to exercise those privliges is some respect for the mod, the team and the community.

The community on these forums exist because the team want to provide an area (a forum!) for people to comment on their work, to enjoy the company of others who enjoy the mod and to provide constructive feedback and critiscm.

Anybody who isn't here to do those things - and completely disregard the specific rules of the forum and the more general rules of "polite conduct" - doesn't have to stay, and the team don't have to let them stay.

It's the same with any forum!
