I was just messing with the sounds; and I think I might lower their volume. Here's why:
I amplify them to make them louder and I edit them to make them fit for the game. I tried to make them really loud compared to Project Reality(Dice didn't originally have their sounds so loud).
I amplify it +12. I was messing with it, and subtracted 6 from the 12. So and it gets +6(Silly explanation

)
Though they're not as loud and powerful by a bit, they sound better quality-wise. It sounds more clearer and more like Machine Gun fire. If that's desired. So should I keep them as loud, or make them lower like I explained?

AK47 doesn's sound real to me, sry. Although I never heard it in real life. I think the current sounds are already very good.

They are good but small arms sounds kinda all sound the same:/

Mosquill, I recorded it exactly from a AK47. It may sound weird because it doesn't have that "Crack Bang" you hear in other videos. I balance the sounds to make it fit for close-up and distances. Gun sounds make a Screaming Metallic Bang from close-up, and it gets more muffled and sounds more like "blrrrr" from a distance. I want to balance that effect. Have the guns loud with a bang, but not keep it too first person, or it won't sound like warfare from a distance.
Waaah_Wah, Read one of my first comments, I explained that to someone already. Guns, regardless don't sound very different at all. They all make the same "Bang" explosion. Many come very heavy, heavy, medium, light, very light, unique. But it's all the same Bang, and same "Blrrrr" Machine gun fire.

Sounds nice
Out of curiosity, how did you record the QBZ95?

PRC_Heavy_Z, some guy at a gun range randomly had it. He claimed he bought it at a trip to Asia. I didn't shoot it, but I recorded it.

Having heard AK47, M16 and TAR21 fire all I heard was a loud bang without any real difference, ingame I believe the sounds are so different to give the guns character.

Those sounds sound just a bit too electrical to me.

Could release them so we can use the sounds in game and then give better comment?

[R-CON]ZZEZ, Exactly. I released sound mods in the past for other games and people would always give the number 1 complaint about, "They all sound the same!!" In reality they don't sound much different at all. It's all just a bang. It's not exactly what you hear on Videos on youtube and such; it's more of a supersonic shockwave that hits you, and you feel and hear the sound. I only try to now make them sound so different, because those who are Naive about firearms complain about them Sounding the same.
Alex6714, lol
eztonia, I'm still editing them and stuff. I'm working on other material for other games at the same time, so it won't be released just like that. And that's up to Project Reality team to preform your suggestion.

Umhh.. you do know that PR has both close and distant sounds right? You don't need to balance that, you need 2 different sounds. Now I see why it sounds so strange, that 'crack bang' is exactly what it lacks (imo).
Oh and from what distance did you record those sounds? Just curious.

Mosquill, There are different distances. Close up, Short distance, large distance, ambient. I recorded it all.
I have a recording of the Crack Bang sound; I didn't use it. Doesn't fit right for the game. Especially with the other sounds. It doesn't sound too convincing like warfare.
I say think about it this way. You put the Close up shot, and then get close to someone with a distant shot put in. It doesn't sound right at all. Especially when you're right next to them. So thats why, you gotta balance it regardless. It probably will never be "Exactly" like real life, because you need different sound channeling for distances and locations; and thats alot of scripting and sounds.

... the AK 47 Assault Rifle, the preferred weapon of your enemy. It makes a distinctive sound when fired at you, so remember it!!
/OT ... i'll just get me coat..

So did you make both 1p and 3p sounds? Or just 1 sound?
Posted: 2008-04-12 19:22

Mosquill, the same sound. I'm telling you, I try everything. And it really just doesn't sound good at all with different sounds like that. Especially when its coming from the real thing. It's not like the material you hear on original video games or other mods. The real thing just presents itself different and you "got" to have it the same.

Ok, then how about adding an additional 'bang' sound that can only be heard at a close distance on top of your current sound? Have you tried that?

Really? Nice, that's one lucky guy. China doesn't sell QBZ95s

and owning the gun in some countries is illegal
The sounds are very nice

could you post the sounds through some better medium?

Mosquill, I told you, I tried everything. And my demonstrations is all that works.
PRC_Heavy_Z, yeah I will. It's actually the maps that Fraps picks up. Some maps come in good quality while others come in bad. Fraps is weird. I know "Strike at Karkand" comes out in good quality. I'll use that map for the next sound demo.

YouTube - Battlefield 2 Sound Demo 3
Video up of Explosions. Read the video to understand.
YouTube - G36 Demo G36 Demo
YouTube - Minigun Demo Minigun Demo
Other videos, of earlier sound editing. You see these videos came out in Perfect qualities; now my newer ones aren't. Fraps is acting like a pain all of a sudden.

Then dont use fraps...
The minigun sounds good though.
But next time post the links with &fmt=18 at the end
