Pretty sure that it's a server based choice about unlocks. I'd like the customisable aspects that it would offer to insurgents.

right, well, again, i'm not code monkey, so i'm not totally sure. I just remember thats the way it was back on EoD in the beginning.

I've been saying they should use global unlocks but I get no feed back :/

Because it's what the majority of most Middle Eastern countries use. The Soviets exported multitudes of weapons to the Mid East during the Cold War. Granted, not all of them use AK variants (many in Sadr's Mehdi Army militia in Iraq use Iranian G3A3s), but most do.

I'm just playing the devil's advocate. Either way I'm fine (although I do agree with the suggestion of creating a separate Iranian Army to use with the G3A3).

Did'nt the devs say they would be using the German Community Mods MG3 as a replacement for the HK21?


And i kinda Agree with the Idea. Except we dont know where the maps take place. Like where the hell is kashan?

The G3 is fine, it just needs more tweaking.

That'd certainly add a touch more realism if they were to add the MG3 alongside the G3 As for the settings -

Al Kufrah - Libya.

EJOD Desert- Fictional (see edit remark below).

Gulf of Oman - Iran has the only northern coastline in this region.

Jabal Al Burj - Jordan.

Kashan Desert - Iran (as already stated).

Zatar Wetlands - Yemen.

I think realistically, all maps would be covered by either Saudi or Sudanese divisions of the MEC (both countries users of the G3 and MG3), but given the vast numbers of the Egyptian army, it's troops would be bound to be involved in some places, namely Al Kufrah and Al Burj (with their AKMs and RPKs).

I'd love to see an IDF push back into Sinai against Kalashnikov armed MEC troops, both teams supported by F16s. You could also match the Abrams (Egypt) against the Israeli Merkava. But as I mentioned about parts sourcing before, I don't think it'd be too unrealistic for an oil rich coalition such as the MEC to acquire new vehicles from the likes of Russia or China, keeping it's western made vehicles in reserve. It's really just the absolute lack of Kalashnikovs that bothers me a bit.


EDIT: Seems there is actually no real life location for the mapped "Qasr" nor the Ejod desert, after zooming in more Al Qasr, Jordan is infact surounded by fields (sandy coloured fields ). There is a real life Qasr in Saudi Arabia though, surrounded by desert.

the point is, we already ahve 2 factions with AKs, and with the Russians in 0.8 will most probably be a 3. one, so the Devs won't make the MEC join into this group.
Accept it, because I'm lazy of this "Give the Mec a AK/ oh how hard the G3 sucks toppics"

Oh don't get me wrong, personally I'm very happy with the performance of the G3. I just also like realism too, I apologise, for some reason I was under the impression that's what this mod was about

Anywho, I think a mix of the countries involved with the MEC would be brilliant.

Didn't know the insurgancy unlock's had been suggested before. Still a good idea.

Yeah it seperates Oman and Iran, as the map shows. Sorry, I worded it wrong before. I meant that Iran has the only coastline to the north of the Gulf of Oman (which would correspond with the game map), not that the gulf is off the northern coastline of Iran (which is on the Caspian Sea).

If I was in charge of logistics for a new, wealthy, multi-national force in the middle east, I'd buy up a **** load of better weapons fitting for the doctrine in which we practice, and relegate all the existing AK's to non-combat troops OR sell them off to other places (insurgents).

I like your idea, this way I can just imagine a story in my little head, where the loaded Saudis splashed out a bit on shiney new G3s for all their mates

Surely they'd buy better rifle's than G3s then. I know I would...

we are not discusing if the g3 is fine or wrong , just the fact that is unrealistic that the MEC has that as main weapon .

if MEC is that wealthy as everybody belives , they for sure will buy a better weapon than a G3 , iwthc in fact is worst that keeping the ak's , both have almos the same stoping power , diference is that the ak carry more rounds , is lighter and has better customitation power(?) .

anyways , back on topic , it will be nice to have diferent weapons for diferent maps !.

Nop, the G3 is a good rifle. Has, IRL, loads better stopping power than the AK-47.

Also, a near by nation makes them.
