there could be blood, but most headshots go though a helmet befor, which will catch up the most blood, and in the most situations you simply will not see the blood, belive us.
those splatter scenes are luckily (for all soldiers) quite rare

So white dust is more realistic?

lets say it that way, in reality you would have a chance to see if you hit, but without the dust you wouldn't in PR, thats why it is still ingame

How about really small puffs? I'd digg small puffs. At least from weapons of higher caliber. Don't tell me a .50 cal bullet, going in and out, creates a puff of blood you could paint walls with.

I want it back anyway! A puff of grey dust isn't more realistic than a puff of blood!
Whaaaa gimmie the bloooood!!!!
No, really. The vanilla puffs are driving me up the wall! The first real thing I've noticed after start playing PR (it was 0.4 I think) was the amazing recoil and those blood puffs! And I really miss it now...

Until you wash your damn combat uniform, yes it is.
I'd imagine half of you, away from mommy for the first time, haven't washed your uniform since we got here. There's no doubt in my mind that if you were shot, we'd see anywhere from about 1 to 3 PR releases of dust build up puffing out of your uniforms.

you got me there

but seriously why not remove the dust and blood altogether seems to be the most realistic way.

Yeah take blood back!
Blowing up insurgent with a .50 cal or an armor HEAT does not make em bleed ?
Shooting someone with a sniper rifle or a 5.56 cal does not make em bleed ?

But it wasn't always true. Thats the problem. From what I understand, the only TRUE hit indicator was the vBF2 crosshair flare. :'(

ok, that bad then, if there is blood, it have to be a hit, otherwise let it out, because blood without hit is kid of stupid...

uh guys...
when someone is shot irl there is not a 'puff' of blood. The blood comes after they are lying on the ground bleeding out.

take the puff away and add blood splatters on the body, like red paintballs?

Yes. Its because of the great
BF2 hit detection.
But the red dust is much more better than the white dust which appears now.
Its right that in rl would puff blood in reallife you have a much better hit detection the enemy would get down. Here an enemy runs on like nothing happends

Someone posted this idea which I actually like about the blood.
yes unless you are shot in the face, you wont see a string of blood come out (depends)
most of the time the blood starts to soak into your bdus and flows out.
so... (to get rid of the unrealistic health bar)
you can tell if a solider is wounded by blood being on his uniform, or a little on his face.
the more blood, the more he is bleeding.
and the blood only shows up when you are bleeding, not for a slight graze or flesh wound.
but if you are bleeding out, and maxi-pads arnt working; call out a medic, and he will find the guy with blood on him to heal.

and I am pretty sure this can be done with the BF2 engine; it would just involve a rotation of skins for the player model.
and I would assume a different level of blood for every 25% you bleed
Opinions?

^ Is it possible to get rid of the health bar medics see? There are certain lines that could get rid of it in the kit.cons for them.
If a little bit of editing works, maybe the same could apply for Riflemen and Engineers, as they too see the status of other soldiers and vehicles in a little bar.
