Most servers force you to join a squad or be kicked so there's not much choice. I usually just mingle with whoever happens to be in my vicinity. It usually turns out well. I like PR cause I'm a big fan of realistic FPS (ex red orchestra vet). I will try not to annoy elite squads in the future though.

best thing to do is tell the squad that your new to the game and you should be ok , dont take it to heart and dont be afraid to ask ,there is guys that just love power and shout at every one but they never get anywere as most the good guys and experinced players will just leave the squad

I agree - just say your new and most people will help - I know I do. Its frustating when people dont follow orders when your sq leader but theres not need to be abusive/shout. I usually just say "work with the sq or maybe leave and form your own if you dont want to" I dont even like saying this as it seems a bit OTT for a game but it has to be said sometimes.
All this read the manual stuff as well - did you read the manual cover to cover ( all 36 pages which are pretty meaningless till you play ) before starting?
And another point - As much as I love PR, I think has more than its fair share of uptight aggressive people. Even on the forums many posters get totally flamed for saying very little - not a very welcoming enviroment - when the thing PR needs most is more players

So there I was, on EJOD - once again everybody has left and made me incharge. yeah - my thought exactly.

Sipping my vodka straight up after a nice 6-pack I took my responsibility as well as a drunken idiot could. And yet, when warning my mates of impending doom i got: "Dude - relax - it's just a game".

What the hell has happened to our community? Now we are bitching about people need to take it easy?! When I joined(!) I was abused in so many ways it would make these new idiots blush and cry to their mommies!

The only reason why I thought that PR set other games apart was that when you joined any public server, any SL treathed it like death or life situation. Kind of enjoyed that. Now - I get the "take it easy" even if I did not choose to become an SL. I say we get elitist asshats in here ASAP and make fun of the "little people". If they can take the abuse, they can stay.

Back on topic: "Be adviced we have multiple tar..." - "Like dude, relax - it's a game"

So I shut up, hid in a corner and watched them get slaughtered.

As much as I'd like to refute ..moraniac or w/e his name is, I have found more American sounding idiots than otherwise but that may simply be because I play low ping East coast US servers.

If you enter the game and join a squad and say " hello, I'm new, I have x-number of hours/minutes exp with PR" then usually, about 90% of the time, you will get at least a friendly reaction.
If after a few moments the squad realizes that you didn't even read the description of what you downloaded, never mind the manual, then you might find the atmosphere growing less hospitable.


But if you DL the game, don't read the manual and join a squad and then proceed to ignore orders .....what exactly would you expect the reaction to be ?



I know this is just a game, but it is a real game, played by real people and those people aren't always soft and cuddly ( I'm totally sure Claudius is really cuddly IRL ) just like in REAL life when say ....you join a pick up basketball game.

But you can't dribble the ball, you never heard of traveling and you tackle the guy making a foul shot ..........and then say " Chill out, its' just a game ".



BF2 is "just a game", PR is a way of life........................ YO !

teamwork is the name of the game.
I have picked up squads at random, and they have performed admirably.
And other times not.
So some rounds are the Great, and others not.
I jusr think that PR is improving, it\s playerbase may change, but the core community is there, and keeping it kicking

Hey Claud

Hail to the old HeliX players that knows to take the game beeing playd seriusly. Nothing is worse when u actually gotta shout on the voip "we got 1 enemy SQ directly east close range... fire taken" and the rest of the squad or team reply "relax its just a game" 2 seconds later they are all wiped out while looking in the opposite direction.

Well some of this happend to my SQ tonite on RIP server. I was yelling my 2 the top of my voice. Situation: USMC We had one APC with gunner and the driver start goin west wiping the hill. Then the driver decides to go to main (MEC)rather than defending or supression on gardens as we where capping West City I was shouting on chat and voip and VT and TS "APC on WEST we got firebase beeing built in front north... need support !!!" The dude just reply... chill out its a game dude !..... and drove on in the WRONG DIRECTION !!

MAN i will tell you, after 1/2 a bottle Captain Morgan.. i got so fustrated i wanted to puke allover my keyboard... anyways.. i destroid my G button and had to change keyboards. Furthermore the same driver spawnd in main and got another APC and destroyid it at the same faaakkin pos as ppl where spawning on the firestation... even though i told him WE NEED SUPPORT ON NORTH to take out the fire station.

I'm more inclined to be scared of the chap who's always in control. Always very quiet, then suddenly out of the blue "WTF ARE YOU DOING?"
