I just would like to note that the entire opposite team on that video act like a bunch of handicapped noobs who are simply unable to look up. And btw, there are other ways then just flying extra-high, so if you think it's the only right tactic then you're wrong.

well if the rest of your team consists of handicapped noobs like they do 99.9% of the time then high flying is the only viable tactic. But if i play with my clan i enjoy a bit of very low altitude CAS.

@mora: the DEVs would never go for that not a chance in hell. remember they hate aircraft i think in their opinion 200m auto-lock on range is way over the top and would make all helis go ubermega1337Pwnz0r style on everything on the map.

I never said anything about auto lock. In fact i don't even like that, i mean where is the fun and the skill when you only need to fire, and the missile does the rest?

I said you need to aim on the target for a period of time witch then makes it a fire and forgot missile.

I say if possible, add wasd keys to tank turrests aswell as mouse, because im sick of having to pick up my mouse and move it jusdt to turn a tank turret around, if you could use the keys for most of the bulk work and the mouse to aim it would be so much better.

I dont know what your guys problems with chooppers and tanks are...choppers are tank killers but a tank is just as capable of hitting a low hovering chopper if its dumb enough to get that low and not take the tank out already.

As for tanks having "laser accurate fire" well duh, the computer in a tank would automaticaly compensate in real life for the distance, so the shell would most likley hit its target no matter what distance without human adjustment, however in BF2 they cant make the tanks do that, so they make them laser accurate. It would hit it in exactly the same place in real life because a comp would adjust for the drop and movment.

Whats wrong with choppers being killers? They only respawn once every 20 mins anyway, be smart use AA the buggers dont have a chance, then youve got 20mins peace and quiet.

I fell like i'm missing the main point of this suggetion. Do you want to make it easier or harder for the gunner?

200m? Do you really get that close to enemy tanks?

Tanks cant aim that high anyway so unless they have AAV's to folow them, they will die.

And be my guest and tell me about other ways to fly the chopter

WSAD for traversing, mouse for fine aiming. Not a bad combo eh?

Easyer, tank turrets are annoying to try turn 180 degrees because they require you to pick up your mouse and put it back down the other side of the table...and I have a HUGE cutting board for my mouse mat, but I feel for people with very little desk space, and adjusting mouse sensitivy dosnt effect it, so adding WASD in aswell would make turret control alot easyer, then use the mouse to fine tune the aiming.

The hellfire should be able to lock on ever heat source, like tanks and other vehicles.
Hellfires are not IR heat-seeking missiles.

The main cannon accuracy is not the problem, its the light speed turrets that these tanks got. M1A2 abrams can spin its turret 360 degrees in 9 seconds, in game its more like 2. WTF!! That and these anti gravity 7.62mm rounds that they spit out and their minituare stature make for really cartoon tanks.

As a newly emerged chopper whore in the last week or so, I've been shot down more times (on Kashan) hovering at 500 meters (just under, if not in, the cloud layer) than I have been killed by AA.

Right now, the mouse thing is completely unrealistic for tanks, AFAIK, tank gunners use joystick type aimers, right? The closest thing to that is WASD, if not an actual joystick.

I like the WASD/Mouse combo as well. Don't know if anyone else picked up on it.

I really dont see the problem in the first place. Tank gunners are trained to engage helicopters with Fin rounds on simulators and on the ranges. Its actually part of their job spec. If you get hit by one, tough, drive your heli a bit better next time.

i was talking realistically. If you want it to be realistic theres really not a chance of the heat lock-on. But if you change that statement to radar lock-on hehe. i like the idea.

@ uk hussar: a tank would never get the chance to engage a heli in RL it would be dead long before it had any idea where the chopper was. Thats kinda what is needed but the view distance is the problem. Not always though, somethimes the problem is that some tard gets a hold of the heli flys it by himself and starts strafing tanks with hydras.

Come to think of it again.. there is no point in adding it..

I mean, if you need to point on him for a few seconds then you could also just shoot him direct, and kill him.

I dont know...
The closest thing to the joystick controller (excpet the joystick itself :) ) is the mouse, since the keyboard buttons are not analogous, but the mouse is.
(And I bet that IRL the tank gunners have an analogous controller device)

im not sure but i think the "fog" is a newly added thing to prevent high-altitude tank owning. I remember in 0.7 i could stay at 710 something like that and still see the ground.

also if someone hasnt figured it our i am an air whore :P

View distance on Kashan is around 900. So you shouldnt have any problems with seing the ground from 550-600 alt. Never had any problems with seeing the ground from that altitude, and i've never been shot down by tanks while staying that high.

Maybe your gunner is running PR on all low or something??
