That's what the squadleader should do whether he has a minimap or not. Open the menu map and give orders. Its his task to keep track on where you have to go and where you are relative to other squads and units. Its your job to follow him and get the objectives (which are displayed on the 3D map, minimap AND menumap. Guess which two are displayed at the same time on your screen while one is directional indication only and more realistic?)R.Johnson_USMC wrote:Why not have a designated navigator in each squad. I mean, if its possible. Have say the squad leader be the only one with the mini map. Or a Radioman kit, that has the mini map. It will encourage communication.
Remove them please?

I have to agree with dawdler here.
The minimap is an uneeded feature. The "situational awareness" IS lacking in a game, but being able to be aware of what is around you in real time up to 50m away is NOT the answer.
Taking away the minimap will promote teamwork, when you are looking for someone to cover you, it's more likely you will look back to make sure he is covering you instead of glancing at the minimap, seeing the directional indicator of his dot is vaguely facing in your direction, and sprinting away.
Losing the minimap will slow down gameplay, it will slow it down in a good way. More care will be taken when trying to communicate and work as a team, there won't be instant target location with the use of the "spotted" feature, when you are trying to figure out a route to your objective, you will actually look at a map ...
All the features that are provided by the minimap can be viewed in the fullscreen map, the ticket counter, the captured flags, and the map itself. As dawdler said, the minimap is an extra feature that promotes fast paced gameplay, which can be a little too fast with a Reality mod.

I agree 100%. Remove both the mini and 3d and give the SL the ability to use his command map for navigation.. Isn't that why there is a "Move Here" command?dawdler wrote:That's what the squadleader should do whether he has a minimap or not. Open the menu map and give orders.
