AA at higher settings reduces it. Ultimately it doesn't change much other than aesthetics though without any AA of any sort it can potentially help obscure targets I suppose.

I voted low cause I have an aging system that barely runs anything at all. Whereas most people say Bi Ming and Kashan and Fools Road make their systems lag I say instead that only Sunset City, Qwai River, Jabal, and Zatar run properly on my system while the rest are unplayable nearly. EJOD is the worst. I just quit when I see that map loading.

I have 1 gig of ram and an ATI x1600 128m 2.4 Ghz processor. I think the most annoying thing about PR is the inconsistent graphical demands of the maps. If I'd started playing on EJOD and Basrah and Fools exclusively I might have given up right away.
Your biggest problem is RAM. Get 2gb asap.

With a new notebook comes better performance. All high, AA x8 at 1280x800 with 60+FPS, but for a few maps which I don't feel like having to name at the moment my FPS at times drops down to 25-40FPS. I would guess the AA brings down the FPS on maps with a lot of statics like trees.

I definitely notice that. My processor has been very very good over the years and my video card is the second one I've had in this thing so its alright too as long as I'm not addicted to smooth telephone wires. The only thing that bites me is the ram issue where I notice that quitting takes forever cause of all the resources being dumped.

Still, that some maps kill you and others work on last gen tech isn't very good I think. Maybe the newer maps ought to be a bit less of a mapper's wet dream and more in line with the ones that work and still look hot. I mean Qwai is great and I never lag in it ever.

Most settings medium, some high, AA 2X, 1600x1200. With a good old Sapphire X800XL, 2Gb of DDR1 and Athlon 3200+ (both overclocked). A bit laggy on fool's road, and sometimes Bi ming but i'll try your idea Herbie.

Everything at low or disabled, with a 60% view distance. There was a period where I could play with 100% and be a armor wore
But those days are far gone now ... I'm mostly a medic now (15-20 Fps does tend to make you that)

I have two machines. One at home and one at work in which I have BF2 :P R.7 installed.

Home:
Rez: 1024x768, All Medium Settings, Distance 100%, Light/Shadow Effects at Low.

Work:
Rez: 800x600, All Low Settings, Distance 100%, Light/Shadow Effects Off

Needless to say my experience playing PR at work (Yes I'm a lucky ******* I know this) is extremely poor even compared to my 4 year old home system at Medium settings. I have my work machine set to all the lowest settings because it will simply not work at anything higher than that at all. I have not experienced BF2 or PR in all High settings and so I really don't know what I'm missing. Except when I drool over HD High Screen Shots or Vids of people with top end machines. ARMY RANGER's PC is something like a wet dream for me at this point.

Everything's on Medium, except Dynamic Shadows, Dynamic Light and Anti-Aliasing is off. Texture filtering and Geometry are on high.

With those settings, I get some minor lag with 30 fps on Bi Ming. Fool's Road isn't as severe. Basrah's industry area lowers the fps to 27ish, but the rest of the city is a good 50+.

All on high, with AF and AA forced to x16 in NV Control Panel.

i put low but i change them nearly every time a new map comes up, e.g. fools road all low (except textures), EJOD nearly all medium i always have, dynamic lighting on because it looks cool!
