By low-end PC you mean what exactly?
I had no problems (at least nothing else than crappy FPS) on FX5700 128MB.

What should I do? Stop playing PR till I find it to be worth of buying a new PC?
wow odd.., instead of the blue screen of death you get the green screen of dying lol.., do you clear out your bf2 cache often?

In the fact that I, personnally, like to sneak up behind enemies and try to first, knife him as not to give away my position, and secondly to shoot him if I can't knife him. I'll get 1 or 2 shots off and suppress myself and he'll turn around and head shot me. My opinion is if Im the one firing at close range, I don't think I should be able to suppress myself, mainly because I know I'm shooting at close range...I'm expecting it.
So if say a players was on the deck on top of a building and had a wall right behind him it would not suppress? Does it only work on the ground then?
When I say behind I mean he’s right at the wall on the deck and I’m blasting above him with a heavy machine gun. Although I thought If shots were passing over head would do it….

I can see through walls on Basrah's island when my comp gets hot enough. I can see down on streets through invisible rooftops because the building model has turned into a black spiky asteroid. The wall thing is just annoying and one asteroid house usually doesn't get me to restart. When there's three or four of them, I know soon palm trees will start going pink or whatever and the Shadow Of Death will appear.
So, Engineer, no I don't think you should stop playing. It's up to the devs to fix it.

It would be good to find out what video cards you were using so it could maybe be fixed.

so its there cards or a cheat? as trust me it works my end if i come under fire it goes all black....and I'm force to as you do take random shots or crawl away...and hope.
Also found this on AiX Mod site - going to give it a try.
Clearing Shader Optimizations: When you change the graphical settings or install a new patch, BF2 attempts to optimize the shaders used in the game for the best performance on your particular hardware. These optimized files are stored in your \Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache\ directory. If you've changed your settings several times, I recommend you finalize your changes, close BF2, go to the above directory and delete everything under the \cache\ directory. The next time you start the game and play single or multiplayer, your shaders will be optimized again. Close BF2 one more time, defragment your hard drive, and now things should be much smoother and load much faster the next time you go to play BF2.

I can understand what you mean about how pissingly irritating it is to have someone still freaking snipe you in the head from 300 meters when you've emptied half a can at them, but I can also understand the thing about removing the effect.
I hate it when a concrete wall several feet thick gets hit 3 feet from my head, on the other side to that I am on, and all of a sudden I'm blind. Unrealistic in my view, but it's still not cool to disable it.

This happened to me 5-8 times just today. I have been trying to figure out how they managed it.

played AIX Mod last night, although i love the fact hitting on PR means somthing I liked the ease of AIX in that it just ran really nice, Heli's Gunships and even the harrier Jump jet were just fun unlike PR they were easy to control.
After all no matter what its a game and should be fun and AIX have that nailed. I'll have to remember not to jump out moving jeeps when i go back to PR.....

Some play PR for the realism, some play AIX for fun to feel like Rambo. I've snuck into both mods for their own unique fun. If you fly a LB in PR, you are immersed into the role of the pilot, waiting for the rotors to spool, handling it differently, doing recon for the team. AIX offers complete carnage in an easier-to-control atmosphere. The main goal is loads of kills.
Fun must be sacrificed for realism, but if PR wasn't fun, would it be the most popular BF2 mod? A balance has been achieved, and when something new comes out, feedback from the community is often reviewed to adjust the new feature for both reality and playability. Teamwork, mature players, a unique shooter also keep players coming back for more.

imho, realism provides for the fun. if i want run n gun, i go for good old quake 3 or UT or something. there you got proper run n gun w/out any realistic stuff in it, thus it rocks as well

In my case it was really less about how many kills and more about the joy of flying again. To fly low level in a Harrier then loop to a hover and blow up stuff was great. Don’t get me wrong I can fly in PR but its too hard after all if you want realistic a pilot can fly a plane easy enough so I would assume any pilot in the game would be given the same bonus that they should be easy to fly to realistically imitate many flight hours and flight school…..
How Many planes crash per round without enemy fire, lots……..
I’d love the ease and feel of the flying units in AIX with the shooting realistic weapons and effects from PR.
Everything else I agree on as I had been playing PR that long I forgot you could jump off buildings and towers and parachute down.…….. which still amuses me.
Plus I don’t know who done the code on AIX but every map ran fantastic and things just drove or flew really nice.Oh aye there was one map called winter park or something, it was more like Bomber man than a FPS….Great fun all the same.

I changed all the AIX guns to one hit, one kill damage values. The refinery map on 16 is nice. The MEC assault has the AK5 and I popped heads with it for 2 hours straight. Completely stupid, I know, but really fun. It becomes like a puzzle game where you have to hit things quickly before too many show up. At the same time you push towards the next CP. The final flag at the top..man, the PLA are everywhere. Their guns just as lethal.

How exactly do you expect the Devs to fix your overheating GPU? Improve cooling in your case before you damage your graphics card any further, just a suggestion.

maybe they want to play the game for what it was, they just want to play the version without shaders suppression, its no secret that i think is shit btw
because of it there's now people disabling it, bunny hopping has made a massive come back (what else you gonna do when court in the open and blind), players PC specs put you at a disadvantage, punkbuster kicking non cheating players etc etc etc...
IMO drop suppression in 0.8 and solve the problem

The one gripe is the low-end comp owners getting punished from the suppression effect. I don't see how bunnyhopping is helpful when suppressed, as you're blind and jumping right in the enemy's view. If you prone, you have a better chance of survival.
Suppression will be adjusted, according to Jaymz, in .8.
