Hey sabre, i used the game.lockfps 300 and my fps is up to 165-180 when before it would top out at 99.

Yea good job but Im all for consistency. Dropping from 180 back to 50 will feel like lag whereas just locking to 50 plays fine.

In the interests of science however I will give it a test and own you with a screenshot

PR needs to cap FPS somehow, seeing as the length of the suppression effect is based on it. Cap between 30-60fps, which is till much higher then mine. My suppression effect last 5 times as long as someone with 100 fps.

If you use the game.lockfps in-game it only lasts as long as renderer.drawfps command, probably when you go on another server you have to write them again.

I threw renderer.drawfps 1 into gamelogicinit.con (I think?) so I wouldn't have to write it down every time I join a server, then PunkBuster kept kicking me out of servers for it :/

Locking the FPS at 300 doesn't mean your actual FPS will be 300, 300 is just a limit on how high it can go. It all depends on your PC and settings.

When I took the screenshot in the first post, I locked it at 450 yet highest I had was 361, since my PC can't go further.

ok thanks i will, its just i dont like it at a low resolotion because on a 17'' moniter the cursor and stuff looks huge, but thats only in ther menus and stuff so it should be better, cheers.

Outlawz,
I was playing regularly and my fps wouldn't go over 99, then i remembered that BF2 caps it at 100, so I unlocked it and it breaks 100, which makes it look nicer, and play good.
I haven't tried the low/no settings tho', one day i will if i am that bored or curious.
What is the command that actually locks it at a number?
I'm running 1600 x 1200 now all on high/8X AA. I think i'm doing good on the FPS.
Crossfire helps.

Right:

Hills of Hamyong.
Standing on the top of the stairs onto the paddy field from USMC main, looking at the sky.
All settings set to Off or Low.
NVidia 3D Settings forced to "Performance".

Highest FPS as reported by renderer.drawfps 1 was: 698
Highest FPS as reported by renderer.drawpfs 1 that I was able to get a screenie of: 692.1

That's one frame every 1.4 miliseconds. Booya.

Twice as mine. Masaq holds the record until someone else steps up.

*gives Masaq a heavy stone saying "Highest FPS record holder"* :p

Also good question on the suppression effect, I didn't try that one out.

I think I could probably break the 700 mark with a little overclocking of the CPU and GPU.

I also think there's a way I can make a pretty big leap beyond 700 with a little thought niggling at the back of my head, too... might spend a little bit of time tweaking.

Oh, and the supression effect was.... brief?

You're soo lucky :p

(I'm stuck at 340 :( ) That's the half of Masaq's FPS

Right, I've just uploaded a Wegame video of supression shader at around 300-400 FPS. I'd re-enabled the advanced NVidia settings and I couldn't be bothered to remove them all again so the FPS isn't as high. It's still bloody quick though.

Single shots and sustained 3-round bursts at close range. First was to show how quick the shader can fade, second to show that if continued fire is placed on someone with a ridiculous FPS they will have constant blackout from the shader.

Basically, if you're good with your shots and work with your squad to supress a target, they'll still be supressed to buggery even if they're on a fast rig with settings tweaked low.

Ultra-quick supression - BF2 video

It's shit quality (forgot to tell it to record in higher definition) so you can't make out the exact framerate - it was around 380/400 min and 490/500 at max throughout though.

I couldn't play with it all on low though. It looks sick and gross... will upload comparison screenshots in a moment lol.

.Its only a 12 kb file, jeez.
How does one use image shack?

No idea, I use private webspace.

Edit:
That's far too small to make out the FPS; you need to post a full resolution (800x600) image so the FPS counter can be read :D

Use the 'Direct link to the image' and put it between the [*IMG][*/IMG] (w/o the asterisk of course ;) ).

BTW, I think Masaq just got beaten. Badly :D

Oh yeah. No suppresion.
Was like a blink, that's it.
The low settings made me barf,
i'm usually at 1600 x 1200 on a 24" monitor.
It makes me feel real bad for all those lesser pc's out there.
