These would be very useful in all insurgent maps.

I like the idea of having these gun trucks, there was one in BFV that was pretty well armed, but I dont think we'll be seeing one with an M60 and 4 .50 cals (

)in the back sadly

There is a nice article about gun trucks on
Wikipedia
Believe it or not they are ACTUALLY realistic, and there is indeed a specific kit designated to "armor up" such trucks.
In regards to armament... I believe 2 50 cals and 2 LMG's should suffice (Its not like there would be 50 Gun Trucks on the map at once

)

Dont like the idea cause we will sure have some idiots who will use the supplytrucks as attackvehicles -.-

That's the point, they ARE attack vehicles.
These wouldn't replace support trucks, they would just add another layer to the fun!

And it's not like there'd be hundreds of them, give them a longer respawn time and only let them drop ammo out the back and the Supply Truck is still vital.

Would Love to see something Like that for insergets. Like a bus with MGs every were on it ooo yeea.
I would really Love to see the 5T truck have an M2 variant that only comes from command post.

Generally a good idea, but I would hope there are higher priorities, like re-injecting some fun into the game.

Or not.

No, they're still transport vehicles, albeit armed transport.

Aren't they used to escort the transport vehicles ? I don't think they transport anything other than the crew needed to man the weapons...

Raniak, you are correct. They are simple escort vehicles loaded to the brink with guns.

It's almost like an APC that isn't armored and doesn't carry personnel.
Whatever floats their boat - or should I say 'gunship of the land'?

Like a Scimatar.
It was used for recon in "Nam" right?

Project Reality check.
First off, this idea is not entirely practical. It would be cool to see something like this around, but is it really useful? Certainly not as we already have medium transport jeeps available instead. Also keep in mind that a "Gun Truck" is clearly a defensive vehicle.
I can already see a squad of 6 people riding to a flag in this thing and they all get killed. Why? Because they're using it wrong as it's for defensive purposes. The idea is to ward off the enemy with massive fire and use it to ESCAPE a hostile area as that is what convoys do... They advance without stopping and return fire on the move to continue to thier objective, not get stopped in thier tracks by a couple of people firing AK's at them. Most players still need to learn the value of retreating, rather than making every single engagement a fight to the death.
One of the major problems here is that players constantly forget that Project Reality and Battlefield 2 are limited to 64 players maximum, making it only possible to have 32 players on each side. If it was possible to have 128 people on a server then you would see people to start manning auxillary positions in vehicles more, such as transport chopper door gunners, etc.
Also you really need to stop for a moment and think about this from a commander view. If we assume that 1 "Gun Truck" can hold up to 6 people, that means we can have 3 fully crewed medium transport jeeps instead. Also keep in mind, that it takes 2 RPG's to destroy an APC. So how many would it take to destroy this vehicle? It's obvious it would take 1-2 Light AT rounds to put this thing down aswell, but for the same amount of manpower wouldn't you say that with 6 people in 1 truck with ironsight weapons is significantly less effective than having those same 6 people fully crewing 3 different APC's?
Also to mention, these vehicles are clearly vulnerable to explosive projectiles. Granted that it may take 1-2 Light AT rounds to destroy this "Gun Truck", but at the same time a single Light AT round could kill a majority of it's crew members simply because of the "splash" damage that explosive munitions utilize. So if you get hit by an RPG and you wonder why 4 of the men that were crewing the guns in the rear compartment are dead... Then I don't know what to tell you as common sense seems to be lacking.
Basically the point I'm trying to explain here is to simply utilize vehicles that offer you the greatest amount of efficiency in comparison to man power as Project Reality has a limited resource pool. If you can actually convince 6 people to crew this "Gun Truck", I wish you luck. Because currently we're still struggling to get people to properly crew tanks and APC's that are 10 times more valuable than a "Gun Truck".

It's simply a supply truck that can defend itself, minus the supply box drop and the building. Anyone who uses a transport offensivly or even uncautiously is going to meet their end very soon, this simply gives you a chance at stopping some enterprising RPG soldier from getting 6 kills from one shot up the kilt. In this truck, you'd have better sight lines, and the capablity for heavy fire, in a support role, ie a gun truck sets up at medium range and suppresses and infantry position while a squad that was surpressed can now move, it fits perfectly.

I suppose it isn't that useful...
However, you can't blame a man for trying

I love this idea. I think it would be a great asset, especially on insurgency maps. That said it shouldn't be an overly common vehicle.

The dynamics of Battlefield 2 and Project Reality mean that there are are no convoys to be protected, as the vast majority of vehicles in game can defend themselves quite adequately. While this would be a cool idea (in the vein of the V-22), it's not practical.
