Welcome to the forums, Colt556. The AC-130 and gunship versions of transport helicopters have been suggested before.

Just making the AC-130U and HOPING someone makes a map for it is a serious waste of resources. It takes a long time to model, UV map, texture and code vehicles that are nowhere near as large scale.

We are limited to 32 players on a team. The AC-130U would take at least 4 people out of the game (pilot, 2 x Bushmaster IIs and the 105mm) that could be securing objectives on the ground.

The AC-130 operates best in a limited threat environment; no interceptors, no radar and no medium or long range SAMs, and preferably a minimal night vision capability. The combat loss of AC-130 callsign Spirit 03 over Khafji in daylight was due to a handheld SAM.

Even on a large map, the thing has a large turning radius. You would practically be doing a left turn around the perimeter of a map the whole game. Watching NASCAR is only slightly less exciting.

And IF it was ever to be put in, I can't wait to hear the sobs of "but what will the other factions get?!"
