I never knew you could arm a UAV, i thought they were recon only..

U Betcha! Remember hearing on the News just maybe around 4 weeks ago when the US was boasting about getting one of Bin Laden's right hand men and cohorts in Pakistan.............turned out it was NOT him.........but the home he was "supposed" to be in was taken out with Rockets fired from one or more UAV's.

C-Hawk OUT!

of course you can arm the things, you can put a weapon on anything... what the hell do you think started the huge 90 year (and counting) continuous fight for air superiority planes? 2 things that I know of, 1) a biplane pilot dropped a mortar round on a ground target (in Italy I think) -- and 2) an allied recon plane and a (what were the opposing side called back then?) plane where up doing, well, recon - they flew within waving distance of each other, and the allied pilot pulled out a revolver and shot the other guy in mid-air (or so the story goes, never checked it out though)

I think EA selected more than just for looks, it was most likely selected because it was more practical.

Predator:

Global Hawk:

Tell me which one you think is more practical for BF2? ;)

That's just the beginning. Just wait until the X-45 UCAV is ready and combine that with several 250lb Small Diameter Bombs. Plus there was that one Predator drone that got shot down by the Iraqi Mig-25 right before OIF started. The outcome wasn't exactly shocking, except for the fact that the drone fired two stingers first.

umm flyboy I think monkeynutz must have been referring to the small/barely any range field launched uav - the global hawk is certainly no hobby toy...

Would be cool if there was a pickup kit that you could spawn a remote control devise that spawns a dragon eye that you can fly around and it would be like the guided missile in the helicopters. Might aid to intelligence for your squad, although the enemy wouldn't be able to have a counter to this and although somewhat slow, would be extremely hard to shoot down.

I think BF1942 had a mod for it that added a UAV cabin where you could enter/use the cabin and fly UAVs

I still think it is creepy to see a medium sized plane like the Global Hawk - without a canopy/cockpit...
