The menu screen is still stretched yes, but ingame it works fine for me.

I think it's safe to conclude 128 players isn't gonna happen. It would be a nightmare for server providers.

At first i was gonna agree, but wasnt 64 players a nightmare for server providers when bf2 came out? ( Im not saying it was - I cant remember

) maybe they would do it to pave the way for bf3 servers? I know its a very long shot, but they were thinking of 128 players when almost everyone was still on dial up!

128 would be nice, and probably fairly easy to implement for them.
BUT
Then how would they sell BF3 as being 128 if it's the same as BF2? You gotta think marketing; BF3 HAS to be better than BF2 in every way on paper, and server size is one way.

I think that's what the BF2 developers said about testing 128 player servers and why they didn't include them.

Yeah, for 128 you'd want at least 50% larger maps than even PR has, and they're bigger than BF2 as it is.

128 would be a nightmare to run on a server, something along the lines of 128 people all trying to find out what the other 127 people are doing and where are they doing it and doing it in such a frequency that they don't suffer lag when looking at others, it might not be our hardware thats stopping them its the server providers needing masses of bandwidth and uber rigs to be able to support all the communication

In all likelihood the changes are going to be balance changes, and then a new map or two. EA has 3 other new titles out currently. Exactly how much do you think they're going to change? 128 players? Don't even start. The dozens of problems with BF2, most of which EA doesn't believe are actually problems but "features", would take SEVERAL patches to fix. Its the repaint syndrome; don't fix the car, just paint it red, add a spoiler. Yes the car catches on fire when you turn the ignition, but at least you gave it some new content.

They basically fix the balance issues and add a few new maps.
Not really much that will change for pr..
There would absolutely be no 128 player support.

128 players would be stupid IMO. 64 players are enough as it is. 128 players would put a serious strain on servers. Not to mention you would have twice the amount of players fighting over the same amount of vehicles.

By the way, more players doesnt mean 128. 80 or 100 would be a more realistic option perhaps, IF that happens at all.
But what i'd think is more likely is adding the thing that you get when going from prone to stand to the stand -> prone too, means less prone spamming. But that's probably also not going to happen...

Of course not. IF 128 player would be made possible there would simply be more of everything or lower spawntimes.

To all the "younger" players, we had 150 players on Joint Operations Typhoon Rising servers which admittedly had extremely large maps. It was doable, even without the built in voip. With voip, the gaming would get intense on a 128 player PR server. It would be welcome I think. Even more tactical than now. Would force players to raise their game a bit.
But any patch would be disconnection issues, proper widescreen, and as to maps, well they might include community made maps only. They aren't going to do the work themselves! They won't change the gameplay really as those still playing it like to not use a mic, like to play musical chairs with flags, like their sniper rifles too much as they storm cp's in hunter/killer sniper squads (lol)
They are probably better off not fixing any problems asides from server connection stabilisation and widescreen. Anything else their community will probably scream about since it affects their ranks and gameplay to get said.
