Heh heh, thanks Flanker.

Well i have been playing PR now the past 2 days and I must say, I'm very impressed, I don't think I will play BF2 original again. As for sound effects, explosions must change. Some of the rifles, well, the SA80 are fine but like most of the other weapons, some good natural echo is needed. The M2 is fine, just needs a better echo for it. The mounted M240 needs to be changed. I like the M249, just needs an echo. The AK's need some change or just some echo to them. Some extra distant reports are needed though. Like distant rifle fire, distant explosions, I have many. Might want to change some of the supersonic cracks or add some more. And imho, the coughing when a player is dying, I think should be some very heavy breathing that increases in speed as the player is about to die.

Yea the coughing sound sounds to much like someone just recorded it. Your sounds sound really good indeed and your famous in the Arma community!

Can I ask how you do all those sounds? Do you just get a real sound and mod it or do you record them yourself? Or maybe even make them yourself!

I have to say I'm very excited about the prospect of you working on this mod. Have you spoken with the devs about this yet? If you have, on what basis are you contributing to the mod - in the team or on your own initiative?

Do you think you the sounds you produce for PR will be similar to those in ArmA?

OMG chammy working on project reality?? its like a dream come true! :-) I allways admired CSM on ArmA and if PR could sound similar to CSM it would be a next HUGE step towards realism. Please PR team accept his help offer  !

Thanks again for all the praises guys, i can't be that good, I know someone out there might be able to produce just as good, if not better, a sound mod. But I am flattered and blushing, so I promise and hope to make CSM and if I am given a chance to do PR's sounds or some of them, I will make sure they are best as ever. Anyways

I was PM'd and I am considered so far, and one more guy i talked to while playing PR online also let me know someone is considering me so I am hoping to hear more from them.

What I do is, since I used to work near a proving ground and have spent time at a rifle range with my own rifles and have attended annual shooting events and I'm also a member of a rifle and pistol club , I would listen or check out some of the videos off of youtube and such and try to find the best quality one. Most the vids were shot with DR's which have lousy mics so really they dont pick up the exact sound u'd want to hear, only some mics will but its real hard. There are some vids that have what I am looking for so I would pick the ones that come the closest if not exact then tkae the sound from it, clean it up and mix any other sound to make the sound more defined and clear. Any other echo I find that fits what I am doing and used to hearing I will mix in the gun shot sound. Same with explosions, foley and events, its all a matter cleaning up and taking out back ground noise. To really get a good recorded sound for any game developers you'd need a dynamic type of mic and the foam to put over it becuase sound produces a tremendous concussion that distorts the recorded sound because it vibrates the condenser too much. Really, like a bomb or lets say a car bomb, is remensisant of a humongous fire cracker. A grenade more of a muffled huge back fire but in an urban setting stuff sounds more like fire crackers in a trash can and some popcorn echos etc. I do this cause , well it used to be so I can keep my ear in tuned because I used to be in a band and we recorded our own music so I mixed and engineered our recordings. I wish I had better software though.

This is certainly a nice treat. I posted in your thread a few times on the ArmA community mods at flashpoint1985.com.

Real pleasure to have you interested here :) Hope things work out for all of us!

Why go through so much work hauling equipment out to the range when u can grab a few of them off a video clip that is closest to what I think is best. I tried using an instrument mic and a DAT recorder, it was good but I had no way of sticking it on the computer before, I can now but its too time consuming, plus I'd have to wait for the next rifle shoot or shoot off event , I don't work in security anymore at the Naval Air Base here.

Yea I totaly agree! And it wasnt like I thought: pfff he just rips them! I always thought the quality would be way to bad! Depends on what video and sound though but still. Glad to see it doesnt work that way

I don't think that YouTube's quality is good enough ;) At least, the RDEVs don't particularly like YouTube sounds :D

Heh lol, of course they wouldnt, neither would I , thats why I grab them, edit them, clean them up and take out the noise, refine them, then mix them with other more defined sounds to beef up and spruce up the sound I got from video, then add the echos. Sometimes I will just use some sound effects from Ghost Recon, the old versions, then use the clean parts to make the sound from the video cleaner and more defined in a way so they match what I am used to hearing, its pretty tedious but it doesn't take me too long.

That's the way I do it :P LoL add some bass to it as well. Don't forget that or else it will sound way to sharp!

I recently played MOH Airborne and was totally amazed how good some sounds were. There is one sound like small propelling metal object is passing your
head. Its like- prrrrrrph! I think it could be used when things explode, like frag nades, cars, cashes etc.

Yeah well hopefully the PR team might contact me for some help. I finally got PR to work and I'm having a good time playing PR , I don't think I will be going back to regular BF2. I notice alot of the rifle sounds need some TLC or make overs. The m249 , PKM and heavy machine guns sound fine , they just might need some better realistic echo, so do the explosions. The SA80 needs some echo. oh and some more bullet super sonic cracks. Well, if they do consider I cannot wait.

Chammy check the R-CON forums, jaymz is working on sounds right now... if you got the time, we can work together to get some badass sounds for v0.8 :)
