'[=TC= wrote:nuetron;731220']Thanks, already did that. Now all I need is guidence to do something like bring up a map, or find out what does what.
I have not tried mapping, but when editing kits/weapons/statics/python/icons/etc for PR singleplayer, I learned more from trial and error than from anything else. There are some websites that _technically_ provide information about modding/editing for BF2. They are so bare, so disorganized, so user
unfriendly, that its still mostly up to you.
Apparently no one
really knows anything about modding/editing. I don't mean that no one can do it, but that everyone is trudging along with info they hacked on their own. When I asked on several forums/sites about information for modding/editing in BF2, no one could answer the majority of my questions about various values/settings for the various objects.
Its as if we are a community of people who have been tinkering with the technology from a crashed alien spaceship. New comers have to figure it out for themselves, because the experienced have just barely figured out what they know. They learned the art/feel for it, since there wasn't much available on the science/data for it.
While I've never released anything, I'm always making various tweaks to PRSP/Mercs/HardJustice/Vanila/etc as well as for many other non BF2 games. I
do not use the editor by the way, as I found it awkward -- I edit all the .con/.tweak/.py/etc files in a text editor (sometimes using PERL scripts to automate repetitive changes).
I don't know, but if finished maps can be loaded in the editor, load various maps in the editor to see what was done. I'd start with tiny/simple maps first -- the more familiar the map is to you, the better. I did something similar with the con/tweak/py/etc files.
Good luck with your tinkering.
