It would make my day to be able to go "Korean War" style on an unsuspecting sniper.

Rhino already said its not possible and the question about the pistol has been answered. No point in continuing to discuss the shovel thing.

I think Bad Company had a drill that repaired ally vehicles and killed enemy vehicles and players. PR 2 + Frostbite engine: lethal wrenches and shovels! :D That dream is for another day.

Well, in Bf2 you can revive friendly soldiers and kill enemy ones with the Shock Paddles

PS: Can we still Shock Paddle enemies to death in PR?

i actually think a pistol should be added to the auto rifleman kit...

i think SAW gunners carry side arms in RL because MG's are likley to jam alot and they take a while to reload....but tahts just my opinoin

It can't "shoot" with an effective range of 0.5m and a damage of twice that of civilian rocks? Strange that vehicles can shoot with RMB, but not kits (which the game treats similar to vehicles, doesn't it?)

Though it would never happen during proper play, it would be funny: An angry engineer (busy building) being harrased by a civie, and then finally chasing after the civie and clubbing them.

Edit for Clarification: I don't intend to be calling devs wrong. I don't mean to be encouraging the addition of shovel attacks (would be very little use for it). I was just saying I was surprised that kits can't RMB shoot like vehicles can, when it seems like the engine/data treats people like one-man vehicles.

Couldn't right click pull out another "Weapon" with the same model of the shovel, just held at a different angle, you know like how right clicking with C4 pulls out the detonator, but hey, I've got no experiance coding BF2.

Worth the work? That sounds like a huge coding challange just for... uhm... beating people with shovels?

Generally, the only troops issued sidearms are military police (including Criminal Investigations Division), crew-served weapon gunners (medium machineguns, mortars, man-portable rocket launchers/recoilless rifles/ATGMs), tank crewmen (though carbines are becoming the norm), aviators and aircrew, snipers and their observers, special operations forces and certain officers and NCOs in front-line units.
Dr2B Rudd wrote:afaik IRL many soldiers buy their own sidearm because it is not issued as standard, which i guess is why they ppl think every1 has one
Bringing a privately owned weapon on a deployment is a no-no. People think every soldier has a sidearm because of movies and videogames.

But there's different code for the defibs and shovel/medic bag/wrench. :)

PS: In PR, the defibs can still kill. A medic zapped me once in Basrah.
