Then may i ask, why is it so that the sniper (who shound be one of the best shooters on the team) has to wait the longest time after moving his scope around? How does that many any sense?

I understand the long "inaccuracy" time after moving, coz that might simulate adjusting for wind/blablabla. But what the hell is up with the deviation added for moving the scope??

I agree with Warren et al on the snipers needing some attention, but I STRONGLY disagree with players being unable to pick up kits and further specialising classes to the point of no versatility. Ppl picking up medic kits and reviving I don't think is much of a problem. It rarely happens on public, its fun to save your squadmates, and a lot of the time gets the person killed anyway. Having MORE warnings will just piss players off for little gain at all.

As for the rest of the kits, remember its just a game, and in that game the players are fully 'trained' with all the kits. Seeing HAT lying on the ground, I know I can use it, so why shouldnt I be able to? Likewise in teamgames it is very important not to risk your important kits too much, in case you lose them to the enemy. Taking away being able to capture your enemys HAT would take a lot of enjoyment away from teamgames.....

While I applaud increasing realism, there is a fine line between doing that and making things, well, boring :)

I think thats everything :)

What about if a Spec Ops soldier decided to pick up a HAT kit or medic kit? Spec Ops are trained not only in the vast majority of their own infantry weapons but also those of the opposition. Also because of their extreme need of self reliance all Spec Ops are proficient medics. So the argument can be made both ways and a hundred ways inbetween. I say it's something we just have to deal with.

I agree on letting specialized kits (like sniper, hat, specops, medic and engineer) being unable to get picked up by someone with a non-specializedkit or kit with a different specialization.
But ofcource kits/soldiers who uses weopons included in standard education (ie, m16/m4, saw, lat, maybe marksman) should be able to exchange kits inbetween eachother.
Also crewmen and pilots shouldn't, after they've gotten the kit be able to pickup any other kits (that way one can't grab a heli, fly out and land on an unsuspecting enemy, steal his kit and go off shooting people).

And just to keep people from complaining about having to run around waiting for a medic the standard soldier could be issued 1 or 2 more field dressings (afaik the standard soldier is issued about 3-6 field dressings before hitting the field).
This way, a squad could survive enough time for the medic to rejoin the squad.

And I dont know whether this belong in this thread and I really don't care about the sniper kit at all, but as a solution for many of the sniper (and possibly HAT, if hat would require a ammo carrier or something) issues like lonewolfing and people who shouldnt have it that have it:
Why not include a spotter/assistant kit that can be requested by right/left klicking in the request rose (also type it like "sniper spotter/sniper" in the rose so people not reading the manual understands what to do).
The suporting kit would include some of the things mentioned in other posts (like the sniper spotter an ghillie suit, laser range finder binocular, carbine and such).
And the supportive kit should be able to pick up the main kit and the other way.
But the main thing with it would be that you wont be able to request the main kit until someone else in the squad has the assisting kit, thus preventing n00b players from lonewolfing with it, and possibly preventing noobs from using it at all as none would start a serious sniper squad and let a noob be the sniper and no noob would agree on using the somewhat unuseful spotterkit when another noob is somewhere else.
