Because you don't blow C4 up by cellphone. The Cellphone is for the IED, and there's no delay on that.

In a similar vein, how about a change at the bomb end and have the phone ring before the bomb explodes. I reckon the Nokia theme tune would be the most annoying to the ambushed player! *doodloooh doodlooooh boom*.

No idea how realistic or impossible to code this'd be

i actually dont think they ring because the way there made w/ the ringer out and replaced by the bomb fuse..but that would be preety cool

Another thing I've been thinking of for while is instead of the insta IED drop have it so IEDs work the same as mines. You must crouch or lay down and a little preparation animation simulating the burying of the IED. Also if you could incorporate an artillery shell instead of the pipe bombs that would be cool. Also a new more devastating explosion sound for IEDs & C4 would be great. Explosions in bf2 are generally lackluster to me. It's just like "boom" the cartoon noise indicating something blew up. Not realistic sounding.

imagine the phone bill all the ied spammers would get at the end of the month...

And also, I seriously hope you dev guys have put in a delay on the detonation as I don't know a single cell phone that can dial up instantly.
