I think this looks very good.
I definitly dont agree with the comments on too much destruction, in fact I think many of the maps in vbf2, pr and other mods are far too clean to be a battlefield. well I guess that depends if its the first day of battle or some time into the battle.
I can imagine (without having read through the entire thread - dont even know if there is a back story here..) that this has been an urban conflict, perhaps a mission gone wrong (crashed blackhawk).. some firepower was brought in (collapsed houses and such), the train (+ other stuff) rammed into an unaware truck (because of the ongoing battle and such)..
To say this in short.. when I look at this map - it tells me a story.. most maps most definitly do not.

+1 I agree a battlefield should be more dirty like this one also means we get more cover.

I found this sentence quite funny and since this is a war game forum I will put it here. No offense to the french just a good laugh.

Re: [MAP] bujhaldaj --> Whats the opinion of the devs?
Very nice map
This coult be a real Operation Phoenix because now the trainstation looks important.
But some things buging me.
1. The name bujhaldaj cant even speak the name out
2. The Blackhawk wrecks. Plz not again a BHD map
3. The crashed train. It crashed into a street? Make some bomb craters instead than it looks like the train had been bombed because its strategic targed.

Re: [MAP] bujhaldaj --> Whats the opinion of the devs?
hehe, well even though I have a fancy purple name and a R-CON infront of my name I'm not speaking on behalf of PR here. Its my personal opinion. I'm not even a mapper, not for PR at least, hehe.SirCommandant wrote:Thanks you two!
Glad to hear a opinion of a [R-CON]!
I loaded the pitures to imageshack.us so u all can see them!
I only do some jobs for the DEVs its not like I'm in position to make any kind of qualified comments on a map in relation to PR..
hehe, all that aside, I cant find much that I would change at this point.

Re: [MAP] bujhaldaj --> Whats the opinion of the devs?
same here.its not like I'm in position to make any kind of qualified comments on a map in relation to PR..
nevertheless, i'm into mapping as well, so some thoughts.
i have to agree with the comments on the train rail going into the street, it really looks odd.
i get the idea of having a tram system, but it should be a seperate rail system. it's nice to have the rails 'embedded into the ground' like you did, but imo just in some kind of industrial area, where cargo trains are beeing unloaded etc.
about the tram system: i'm pretty sure tram tracks have a different track gauge (hope that's the right word - spurweite in german) than regular traintracks. so, connecting a regular train system to a tram system i very unrealistic imho.
if you wanna add a tram system i'd say you need a proper set of statics. though, as a sidenote - i'd imagine you get some drawing issues with the roads anyways, but not sure about that since i din't try it myself yet..
imo, just create a regular track system using railroad crossings etc. and it should be nice!
also, the yellow lines (think they're called 'industrial lines'): it seems to me they could use octaves = 0 ?
looks a bit odd to me..
apart from that, it looks promising - keep it up!
may i ask what you're doing over at opk?
hope this helps a bit..

Re: [MAP] bujhaldaj --> Whats the opinion of the devs?
Looks awesome. This makes me want to start mapping
Just one thing that would make it look cool... Make a couple of cars on the road not destroyed, so it looks like the people in the city were trying to escape the artillery or bombing or something, but ended up running. And maybe some destroyed cars on the bridge?
