I agree. Would totally stop single pilot choppers too.

I believe a pilot does get to rattle off the rocket pods... Though I may be wrong.

Dalton: A minimum range may be possible (using the same sort of idea as the grenade launchers perhaps? Not a coder though so I'm not sure.

actually, if we're talking about the cobra at least, then i believe cobra was designed where the gunner and pilot has exact same cockpit controls, meaning either person can do the gunnery or piloting, the front man is the gunner by assignment of course, but in reality he can also do the piloting. same with the pilot, he can take control of any of the weapon systems at any time if he wishes to do so assuming he can still control the craft well.

i am not so certain how the cockpit system works in the Havoc though, too little accurate information for me to find, nor do i know hwo the chinese gunship avionics work. I'd reckon however that most gunships are designed so that either crew has at least a way to access and do the job of the other crew to facilitate an emergency event or unexpected circumstances. Like when that 45 mm shell smash ur buddy.

Makes sense, but for the sake of balance I say we keep it to assignment only.

I think the choppers rocket pods sould be taken off or somethink, the co-pilot should do all of the killing and the pilot should keep the chopper steady.

If the co-pilots doing well then the pilot shoul be rewarded.

If lonelyjew's idea is input into the helicopters then it would also add to the realisum. http://realitymod.com/forum/t4493-away-with-the-tv-guided-missles.html

Could anyone tell me witch new helicopters are going to be in PR?

Apache WAH-64 Longbow, OH-58D Kiowa, MH-6, MH-53J, and Merlin HC3 plus many more.

Mabey PR should make a readme of all of the items they are makeing.

I was suprised to see no HAS.Mk3, CH-47 Chinook, AH Gazelle, Puma and no MEC or Chin helicopters like the Mi-24?

If you have thought of adding any i can help with two paint sceams per chopper.

Oh by the way the MH-53J has no protection and for a massive thing like that its kind of stupid!

The Lynx would work good for teamwork as it only employs 8 TOW missiles that can be used by the gunner and it can carry 9 fully armoured troops.

Also if anyone has seen OPK mod there helicopters open and close all the hatches when it lands, this would be nice for PR.

I think the pilots should remain in control of the rockets, since he's the one who aims them (points the aircraft). Their destructive power is roughly that of a mortar shell; While useless against a full-grown tank a near miss can destroy unarmoured targes and cars, while a hit can destroy light armour such as APCs.

I'd like to see the current "drift" of the rockets (if the helicopter has any motion the rockets won't hit where they're aimed) done away with and replaced by a slightly arcing ballistic trajectory with a bit of spread for area effect. Furthermore, their firing should be full auto (or with salvo limiter). However, reloading should take quite a while (Imagine loading the entire pod with 20-pound rockets), so the pilot will not just spray carelessly.

The gunner's position needs a lot of work! First of all, I don't really like the way weapons are switched by secondary fire. Using number keys or "cycle weapons" -key would seem a lot more logical to me. The secondary fire should switch between the cockpit 'IHADSS' view and the zoomed-in tv-screen 'TADS' view. The sight is fully stabilized within the limits of its motion.

The M197 3-barreled 20mm gun has a cyclic firing rate as high as 3000 rounds per minute. It is usually fired in 100-round burst giving the gun time to cool down, reducing the practical rate of fire to around 750rpm. The sound it makes is more like loud low-pitched buzz. It fires a mixture of AP and HE rounds.

This gun delivers an incredible volume of fire and a single burst should be enough to decimate pretty much any lightly armoured target. It is also an excellent anti-aircraft weapon. I'd like to see this weapon get more spread for area effect and volume of fire, and the spin-up firing delay needs to be done away with and changed to accelerating firing if possible.

The TV missiles should definately be done away with. Neither the Hellfire nor the TOW shows missile camera imagery in manner of GBU-15, Walleyes or Mavericks. Instead, in case of the TOW, the gunner simply places the sight on the target and the missile will attemt to fly at the center of the sight. In the Hellfire's case the missile will home on the gunner's laser energy reflecting off the target. Either way, the gunner guides the missiles by keeping the sights on the target with the difference being that with the Hellfire the target can be alerted by the laser energy, while with the TOW it can't since it's optical.

First of all: Mi-24 Hind = Sexy. I'd kill a puppy to see these in the game, including the small troop cabin in the Hind. Pilot, gunner and four passengers works out fine by me.

Secondly I agree completely with Wonder, save one point. The aerial rockets need to keep their "drift" as it is pure physics. A helicopter flying sideways which fires a rocket at a target directly in front of it will miss its target by the same amount as its lateral movement because the inertia transfers over. Otherwise those are the exact opinions I'd voice.

The drift just seems to be too powerful in my opinion.

give the spec ops guys laser designators so they can guide missiles on the ground?

If not specops, them give them to the snipers.

I will do the laser designator more justice. Image

Or we could do away with these things all together. While in theater in Iraq, we used laser pointers to point out targets to helo's. Of course it was at night and we were using infra red laser beams to highlight the targets. So maybe we could do something along those lines? Just class them to like Spec ops to give them more meaning in the game.
