when installing on Vista it's possible to speed the process up by forcing the Consent.exe to run (this is the program that asks if you want to install) run task manager and right click on consent.exe a single selection should appear and you click on it and the permission window will open.(instead of waiting half an hour).

PB keeps booting me off servers, and always says it's because it didn't intialize. I'm running Vista home premium 32bit and PR as an administrator, so what is the problem? I hate PB they should scrub it all together it never works and always ruins a good game.

This fixed everything for me. Before I got the white textures a lot of times, and sometimes would crash on map load or just randomly crash. I recommend that in the installer these methods should be on one of the windows because if you are running Window Vista and have problems, this will fix everything.

Windows Vista capable, means that your present hardware meets the absolute minimum requirements install and run Windows Vista.

A modern processor (at least 800MHz).
512 MB of system memory.
A graphics processor that is DirectX 9 capable, with a minimum of 64mb of RAM.

To add to this, I have had no problems on ANY servers to do with the memory fix, so don't worry that you will mess something up. I have also played stock BF2 servers and I did not get kicked with PB or anything else.

This fixed: map crashes, white textures, map lag, and textures and objects simply disappearing.

ive got a vista problem, whenever i play online i always get small connection problems about every two minutes, yet i always have a good ping, firewall is off, and i have an excellent connection to my wireless network. This never happened to me with XP even though i had a worse computer. At the moment i am running all high 4x AA and i get about 60fps average, but i tried putting medium on all and turning AA off, (as this thread suggests), but i still got he connection problems.

Stupid Vista, i dint even want it on my new computer, but the T***s force you into it now. :(

It's probably your wireless, it messes up your internet, had the same thing with me, until I went wired, if you can't get to your Router, try these HomePlug and Powerline - from £24 - easy home / office networks Share broadband , they are available in PC World and I'm using them, and they are great, no internet problems at all.

What that homeplug thing does is you plug it into your router, and then plug it in next to your PC, and it puts internet through your electricity! I had the same problem, and it solved it. But i did have to save up a bit. Try looking at your wireless receiver and get the fastest one of those.

Hello,
I've downloaded the Core and the levels. I can install it without any problems but if i am going to start PR via Desktop-Shortcut, then there is an errormessage which says i have to be an admin due to a bug. Okay, right click it and click on run as administrator but the big problem is that the error still persists. The only way to avoid this message is not clicking "ok" on the first error message and just start again. Then it works. Okay then, at least i started it. But then comes the "WARNING, you have to start pr.exe [...] ALT + F4 [...] message" and i don't know what to do. I just clicked on "full installation" and didn't change anything. I don't have any idea what to do anymore so i hope you can help me. My english is not that good so maybe i don't really understand the guide for that or in the wrong way :)
Maybe there is a connection between not being able to start as an admin and the other problem but i don't know.

Hey. I've got Vista and when I downloaded the core and lvls and tried to run the EXE.s and it wouldn't run. Is it my computer or is there a problem with 0.8?

What's your hardware specification? Under Windows Vista, depending on your hardware it takes awhile for the installation process to start after you've clicked on it, so wait a few minutes.
