Yeah, either limit it with an armoury or make it bloody hard to shoot. I'm personally for limiting since if everyone can pick one up, with the engagement ranges in PR every 2nd person will be packing a sniper rifle.

@Rhino: I don't think an AA style training system is viable here.

I very much like the idea of an armoury to limit the number of players selecting certain classes.

On the "n00b issue" brought up regarding armouries: It is true that a person who really cannot handle a special kit can grab it and fail to use it properly, potentially bringing it in the enemy's hands when he dies. However, IMHO, the risk for that to happen is too small to warrant that we try a "prevent it by mod design".

I'm all for using "mod design" or "game engine design" to prevent deliberate sabotage against the own team, e.g like team-killing to get an airplane, leaving a vehicle on the runway to make the pilot crash on takeoff or placing oneself in the way of the plane to get killed and make a teamkill punish etc.

However, I personally strongly disagree against using "mod design" and the like to prevent less competent players access to various infantry kits and vehicles. Even if less competent players can achieve "less desirable" results (to say the least) at times, they are fully loyal to their own side and by all means at least intend to be teamplaying. If they still get access to desirable kits and vehicles at times, they get an opportunity to learn how to use the kit a bit better and eventually they well become competent :) . And if the side looses a sniper kit to the enemy or so, well, then it does. Bad things always happens in combat and on the other hand, an enemy "n00b" might come around and "bring" a nifty sniper kit to your side as well ;) .

Don't fear the n00bs! n00bs means newbies, newbies means that PR get new players and new players means new blood. New blood is good to keep the PR community alive and is helpful to prevent stagnation. Oh, also, I've so far got the impression that PR, as well as it don't attract TK-ing players, also doesn't attract the "n00b-o-phobic" players. I'm right about that, aren't I ;) .

Ok, I could write quite a lot about this matter but I think I got my point accross.

Best regards
